As long as they get paid. Have you guys heard about this? Just bizarre. Apparently the powers at Gitmo are using pop music, played over and over again, to wear down detainees. As if life there, without much hope of any change, wasn't enough. Anyway, Ascap wants their cut of royalties. I think I've heard it all now. blog.wired.com/music/2008/07/does-us-governm.htmlMike

I knew the powers at ASCAP were crazy but that's it. I guess it's either send the men in the white coats to get them or send homeland security to get them. Goooood Morning, Gitmo

Well, just think of the great advertising that could be used by those artists.... ...I know there's not much they can do about it, but I'd be spending my time trying to sue to get it stopped.

Good thing ASCAP didn't think of that when we were broadcasting "Spirit in the Sky" out of choppers over VN.

Now just imagine if ASCAP were taken over by the Mafia.... or maybe they already have been.

Nancy's cousin's husband owns a small chain of restaurants here. He was so exasperated with ASCAP's harassment that he attached their decals, intended for the front door glass, to the 'business surface' of all the urinals...about the place a bulls-eye might be placed.
Then he switched to television. They have no royalties mafia. Now you know why so many places put tv's in place of radio/music. It's called "cut off your nose to spite your face". Pin-headed dummies.

QUOTE: "....THEN I'LL BLOW YOUR SOX OFF, IFFIN YOU GOT ANY ON..."
Blowing the sox off another guitar player, in advance of a military tribunal, would violate the Geneva Convention and rules of this discussion board. And since we all know guitar playing is really a competitive team sport we oughta start picking teams instead of this one on one stuff.....

This board has become a family of relationships, many of them long-standing. Like many families, I suppose we have our squabbles, but kindness and acceptance prevails...more or less. At times, blame the full moon, the board goes too political. If you're here to build relationships, you'll avoid painting the whole group with one broad brush stroke. There are no 'bleeding heart liberals' or 'warmongering pig-headed conservatives' here. I haven't seen those handles. What's here is Bill, paul, Rick, Don(s), Alan, millring, sekhmet, and so on. I'm not asking you to not discuss. I'm simply asking you to talk to us as people with a number of viewpoints, not a faceless group. Now get back over to your "new addition" thread and tell us about the rest of your "family", willya? And where in Missouri do you live?
