Up early to get a CT scan of my ankle. Also, will have to get a 14 day heart monitor in a few days due to complications that decided to complicate that which is already complicated. When it rains, it pours.
Have good ones.

Huh... Found my place. This is a little spooky. Does someone drive around taking pictures for Google? This isn't an aerial shot. It's a drive by. What if I had been sunbathing au natural? No privacy. Plus, it isn't even focused. It's a goofy stretched out shot. A car with a rotating camera on the roof just drives up and down streets as it takes pictures and records locations. I have seen it a few times. I waved at it once when I was somewhere so there is a photo on Google maps of me outside a shop waving at the camera. I can’t remember if it was in MI or WI. Door County, perhaps?

So, what did they do with all the bacon they fried to get that grease?

Here's a very sweet version of the Bill Monroe-penned tune from Billy Strings and Co., from early in 2023. Very nice, indeed. When I took lessons from the late Orrin Star, he taught me this tune, but I haven't played it for years. Might be time to dust this one off and relearn it.
So, looks like he's growing his hair long again. It’s a wig. He has several in various colors.

Canadian chicken? I only eat good old USA chicken! At the risk I’d sounding dumb(er), what is chimicurri? That doesn’t sound very American either. Didn’t Dick Van Dyke sing a song about that stuff?

Cool, cloudy, fall-like weather today. Taking photos of things I want to sell. Not much else going on.

Cool & rainy. Light breezes blowing French toast this morning made with the Polish raisin bread we get at the Farmers’ Market from the French nuns of St Roger Abbey. I never heard of St Roger and why the nuns are French is also a mystery, but those ladies bake some awesome stuff. Wow! I think they are from Quebec, but that’s just a guess. Anyway, this bread makes wonderful French toast. www.strogerabbey.org/come-to-our-stores/

Slept poorly, on the positive side, was up for the Singapore practice 3 that occurred a few hours ago. LJ, saw your discussion of the ankle issue. My office manager has had issues with hers forever, but being 50, they say she’s too young to have any kind of surgery. Not sure what’s on the agenda for today, may have to catch up on mic builds. That’s what they told me at 50, too. I was told years ago that I would probably need surgery when I was in my 70s. I guess it was an accurate prediction.

Yeah, it’s the time after the surgery that has me most concerned—the recovery time when I will be somewhat helpless to do just about anything. It’s a bit scary to me.

Thanks, everyone. It’s a lot to ponder. There is no easy route, but, then, life goes that way sometimes.

Many years ago a doctor told me that one day I would have severe problems with my ankle. I told him I would cross that bridge when I came to it. Well, I am in the middle of the bridge trying to hobble across.
My appointment with the orthopedic specialist was long today and I seem to have run out of options. I have an appointment for an ankle CT scan next week and another appointment the week after to discuss plans for ankle fusion surgery. He said it would be a 2 & 1/2 hour surgery. I have been told there will be a 2 to 2 1/2 month recover time with a cast for 6 weeks and a boot for two weeks with no weight on the ankle. After that, a boot with limited weight working up to full weight which would amount to another 2-3 weeks.
Because of schedules & plans, this wouldn’t take place until March of next year which would mean I would be looking at being fully recovered by early summer. It’s not what I hoped to hear, but not unexpected, either. I was at the doctor office for 3 hours today for exam, x-rays, and consultation.
Then, the best part, is we went to Giuseppe’s for an early dinner.
Long day. I am tired right now.

It was 43 last night. The weather gnome says we have seen our last 90 degree day and there may only be a few 80s. I am not sure about that last part. Breakfast & then off to the orthopedic specialist. Barb’s positive attitude is hard to resist but, deep down, reality is shuffling around ready to make an appearance. The best I expect is a new brace prescription for now and maybe the start of the planning stage for surgery. Ugh. That’s a big one because they will go in and completely shatter the ankle so they can put it back together with screws, glue, and possibly baling wire, to make it straight. The cost is no mobility in that ankle & a long, long recovery period. A stiff, unbending ankle is bad enough but if it still has all the pain it does now…. Well, I am getting ahead of myself. First, breakfast and then the appointment. I shall stay positive.

Well, she got my profession wrong, but I'm not gonna complain. Don't need to advertise that I'm a clock guy. Are you on Tic Toc?

66 here, too, and dropping to 43 overnight. 43 is toss another blanket on temperature. My ankle has been excruciatingly painful the last few days but actually doesn’t feel too bad right now. I hope it lasts. I see my orthopedic specialist tomorrow. Barb is always hopeful but I don’t expect much. I do like her being hopeful, though.

I am not sure I would make eye contact with any of those guys. They look like bikers looking for trouble. Except for the guy with his phone. He is obviously looking for something in his photos.

After the Prigozhin incident, riding a bulletproof train is probably much safer. Bbb How about a hand-car with a bug shield? Remember the revolutionary’s train in Dr. Zhivago? Now, that was a train!
