Damn. That'll tug the heart strings. Nice bittersweet feel.
I wonder about the homeward bound part tho, GP. There's something comforting about going home and it seems like if he's leaving his love he oughta be headed out on the road and into the unknown.
Just a suggestion, meant as constructive type criticism.

That crossed my mind as well, but wouldn't a gypsy be at home on the road?
Interesting song, GP. I like it. The use of the Am/Dm give it a good sound.

Quite right, TDR. As often seems the case, my lyrics twist some irony into a common notion and are easily misunderstood. The gypsy's heart is lost in self-imposed exile from his love. The line "if home is where the heart is..." (a common and trite notion, to be sure) "...this gypsy's homeward bound" essentially implies that just as his heart is lost and troubled, so too will he be as he quite literally hits the road.
Thanks much for your kind words and constructive thoughts.

I got it as well. It was really the best line of the whole thing because of the twist.

Scott, that's a killer set of lyrics.
"An ember in the firepit"
Can I claim this line as a half-quote, or is it sernedipity?

I had to check your CD -- the piece is "Embers in the fireplace". I'll certainly give you credit for a half-quote. In a few short years I expect I'll be telling everyone that I co-wrote a song with Giacomo Fiore! How cool is that?
