This is my first time in the chat room. I am called FactoryChef. I have a job in a factory, but have many other interests, such as astronomy, coin collecting, roasting coffee beans, gradening, composting, music and cooking. I came to Iowa from Miami in 1973 to help start up a restaurant and I have lived near Vinton, in the country, ever since, where it is nice and quiet.
I attended Idiot Jam 2008 and enjoyed listening to all the talented people. I also looked at the 2007 Idiot Jam and many of the videos. The Village Idiot steered me to this chat room, as my wife and I both have an interest in music. We have a piano, a fiddle, many ukulele's and a just purchased Seagull S6 acuostic guitar. I look forward to chatting.

Welcome, FC. Did we meet you at Idiot Jam, or were you in the audience?
Since you come from Vinton, you probably know of me, even if you don't know me -- I'm the guy who got stuck in the mud road. (I know, I'm the one you guys are now telling your kids don't do ___, or you'll grow up to be like him.)

Hello from Mississippi, Chef. I was at IJ, maybe I saw you there. This looks like a good time for a Miami story. I graduated from high school in 1970 at the age of 17. The next day, I went with a buddy to Miami to hang sheetrock in the high rise condos on Miami beach. It was a culture shock. I thought it was the meanest town I had ever been in. If you didn't burn the tires exactly when the light turned green, people were honking and filpping you off. Of course, I was a 17 bumpkin who shouldn't have left McNeill, Miss.

Now THAT is my kind of guy!!! Welcome fellow Seagull owners. If we can get a few hundred more just like you we can outnumber the other guys.

Welcome to Isle Bedamned, Mr. Factory. Did you go to Iowa to start a Maidrite restaurant? I hope not.

Mr. Factory Chef, greetings. Glad you came on board.
Evan, I can't imagine MC eating, cooking, smelling, thinking about, or getting near a Maidrite. The guy's got seven or eight different varieties of garlic growing in his garden.
Expect some good food discussion.

A gormet/gormand in IOWA???!!! Say it ain't so, Joe!
Wait, so you mean he seasons his Maidrites? Doesn't that qualify for lynching or tar & Feather or some such?

Yes it does, Evan. In fact, here's a picture of me taking him on a little "ride".

I'd thank you, Evan, but I shopped ALL OVER for that helmet, and didn't get one compliment.

Hey FC, welcome. Roasting coffee you say? How long you been doing that? What do you use? I got a Hottop 'B' and I been roasting for about a year now, give or take. What is your current roast fave? I've been mixing Hondo COE with some IMV and Bolilvian, to just a few snaps of second, it's been pretty drinkable.
