While I've been to some places in colorado that are kind of like that (and that's from someone who doesn't have a clue about high desert), it just look sooo different.
Here, we get about 2.7 meters of precip/year.
Here, were have mtns that are literally continually oozing (pretty good quality) water from precip and snow melt. Water is pretty much always moving downhill at a pretty good rate. Enough that if you take a little it doesn't make a bit of difference to the overall picture. At least so far, since other folks on the other side of the divide haven't been claiming water rights or fair share.
Still, rainfall is hugely acidified due to our neighbor to the west--china. I've heard it even affects the western U.S. It kind of depends on the wx patterns, typhoons during the season (not quite over yet), and so on.

The first is, the second isn't. Ok, cool. For me where it stands out is in the sharpness of the brush and the shadows in the tire tracks. Neat shots !!!
