Christmas was great but I felt the need for some middle of nowhere today.

Flake, I hope that you're damned proud of yourself. You are such a good photographer. Your progress has been amazing!

Thanks! I was inspired by a goddess.
I'm mostly conscious of how much I have to learn.

Dan, Gene, thanks for commenting.
Dan, this is the same camera and the same lens you have. I didn't get the 17-40 to begin with but I've come to love it. Are you happy with yours?

I feel the same way about how much I have to learn Flake. Maybe you should go back to the classics. Get some fabulous coffee table history of photography and go nuts. Just look, ignore what they say, except for id purposes. I spent about six months in the Toronto reference library doing that. Learned tons.
You can learn technique, but I hold that a truly good eye has to be innate or absorbed. There are no books.

I've been reading a LOT, sekhmet, mostly about composition. That's my weak point.
This sure is fun, though.

*lawyers*
Your photography has always been informed by your eye. It's what makes you good at it. I had a good eye at 12, which is when I started taking landscape shots.
I know there's lots to read about composition and every other aspect of photography. I bet Ansel Adams didn't read "Making good Photographs Better" and - "Half a head? Why Not?" and the like I should write the latter.
I want to do a self portrait of me in a box all scrunched and pushing out but no box showing. What do you think - too many Tylenol with Codeine?

Oh...THAT wish. I've had it many times.
I think you should do it.

I think I will - when I can scrunch again.
