My Blues band, Drivin' South was reviewed by a reporter from the local paper after seeing the gig with the hopelessly drunk bass player. Check this out:
'With some of the charisma of Aerosmith's Steve Tyler; and the manic energy of the Black Crowes' Chris Robinson, the frontman of Drivin' South was not your run-of-the-mill pub crooner.
Writhing like a tree in a storm, his performance was worthy of a sold-out concert hall and was backed up by an ability to do justice to more ambitious numbers like the Stones' Gimme Shelter and Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll. He soon had the audience dancing and they loved his cheeky banter.
But it was not just the singer who was the focus. The drummer put in a powerhouse performance while the guitarists ripped through the likes of Kings of Leon, Billy Idol and Thin Lizzy.
And when one of the guitarists took over the vocals for a blues number, it was spine-tingling stuff.
Best of all, Drivin' South chose some fresh songs by cult bands like the Supersuckers rather than just resorting to tired old pub-rock favourites.
This is a band you have to pay attention to, rather than just peering into your pint, and it's definitely worth making the effort to go and see them.'
How cool was that? She managed to see a lackluster gig-by my standards-and the idiot bass player might have done our reputation some real harm. We definitely got lucky that night. Not only that but, apparently, the reviewer was on the radio last night extolling our talents! It's all good.
