Had big layoff in April and went from 12 hour shifts to 8 hours. I drive 74 miles round trip as do others and didn"t like this at all. Was not getting much sleep or gettind much done as we also were getting forced in every Saturday and Sunday. We are now going back to 12 hours and have recalled everybody back and will have to hire more help. We will end up with 3 million pounds more work per month then then we had for the 13 months prior to the layoff. I just want some health insurance so I can retire from this job. I have type 2 diabetes and can't find any coverage. I need to get more time on guitar, cook more food and garden full time. Looking forward to the next IJAM. Bob

Sounds like it's better. Man, that's a hell of a commute.

After a busy few months we are looking at a slow schedule looming again. Bummer. I just got an award Friday for 900 or so doors to begin shipping Jan 2010 so that's the first solidly positive news I've gotten in over a year. I still think this winter will be generally grim in our construction related biz.
