Hi everyone, I have hired someone to design a new website for me and I wanted to show you the first draft of it. It is only a snapshot of it but there will be photos and links to the pages, etc. I also need to edit the text better and all sorts of things. But I'd like your comments on the look and feel of the site. www.chappellgraphics.com/blue/thanks much in advance! (you guys prolly know my music name I am known here by is "Blue"-- hence Wren Blue)

Very attractive. Fits the therapy theme well in my book.

Wow! Quite professional.
Nice touch with the photo of looking down the fret board with the fibrating strings. Over-all, it's great!

May I ask, who is your designer?

My comment on the look and feel is that it is near-perfect. I'm assuming that the underlines in the text will hyper link to the same links as the headings at the top? Nice. I'd be inclined to combine sentences 2 and 3 (link the fact that you have always had songs associated with special memories to the desire to provide the same to others). Perhaps some titles above each paragraph (ie: Music: CI presentations: Therapy: ) might serve to better organize all you do into that three-part splash page soundbite? Just a thought. I'll leave the editing to others here who do that stuff for a living... The page looks really good visually, IMHO.

Thanks everyone so far. Yes as far as the page structure and text there is still a lot of work to be done. I am also writing it and voicing it in first person. I never liked those phony bios that are written in 3rd person when you know they themselves wrote it. So I am trying to be down home and say who I am and what I do. I like the design a lot. The designer is a woman I worked with back in the early 90s she designed my cassette recording (it was that long ago!) graphic. She has her own company and did some sites for massage centers and I thought she had the right feel for what I wanted. I wanted a combo of a therapeutic musician and an artist.
it is in it's very early stages and this is the first draft. I appreciate your feedback. thanks!

Very, very nice. I'll second Mike's comments - a good eye for detail there, Mr. M.

Wren, I think it looks very nice. You come across as a compassionate person who wants to share music and other experiences in order to help others, which is exactly the kind of person you are. Sure, it'd be nice to have a real photo of you instead of a stock one, but it sounds like you are getting there.
I'm really interested in your music link, which isn't open yet. As long as you and I have been around the forum, I have yet to hear you play, and I'd love to.

Very well done -- like others have said, it presents the WrenBlue we have come to know and love thru many years of forumizing.
A new photo of your hands and strings will be a nice touch. Only a guitar geek would comment that the stock photo is a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster being played by a lefty.

I'm not too crazy about the overall look of the page. It's too feminine for my tastes. It reminds me of when we were shopping for houses and I kept walking into model after model wondering who the hell was decorating these places.
But ignore me. I know nothing about style, as my family keeps reminding me.
Other than that, I really like the layout (it looks like you cover a lot of ground, but have it well organized), and I like your intro/ bio.
I like "Blue". Cool name.
And I'd also like to hear your playing. Let us know when that link starts working.

hi again, thanks everyone for your insights and feedback.
Fingerplucked, thanks for your honesty. I don't expect everyone to like it or resonate with it.. that's fine. I like it.
It is ok for anyone to say anything that they really dislike about it. I don't expect all pleasing comments.
thanks again

Thank you, Tramp. Oh about the seriousness...I do like that but I am also thinking of having a page with my cats where it's a joke that they have this secret page I dont' know about and ask people to send food and something silly. that might be a nice balance since humor is important to me too and many people have animals.

I think it looks positively excellent. I might observe -- if and when you sub your hands and fretboard for the stock photo -- please note that that stock photo doesn't just match the musical theme -- it matches the color scheme that makes that page work so well. A rosewood or ebony fretboard may not as well.

I really like it, Wren. When I saw the layout and the colour scheme, I felt relaxed. It isn't too busy-looking and so far it looks like it'll be easy to navigate.
My sense is that the colour and the overall design visually represent what you do...provide caring and compassion through your music. I also like that you talk about your cochlear implants experience; this will intrigue people and draw them in more, so to speak.
Wonderful job so far!
Upon edit:
I agree with Millring about the colour of the fretboard.
Also, something I noticed:
In the music practitioner box, the little picture in the top corner almost looks like an ear...that picture (or something akin to that) might look really cool in the CI presentations box.
