Yeah, me too. A shrink, an MD no less. Ideas have consequences.

I haven't read further confirmation, but WLS news just broke in with the news that the base commander said that the shooter shouted "Allah Akbar" before opening fire.

On second thought, why bother? I'll warehouse this post in the "best things left unsaid" file. "Best things left unsaid"... that would be a great hook for a song!

If you want the REAL story, you need to get the facts from World Net Daily. The shooter assisted with the obama transition team! Must be one of those radicals that the secret muslim would pal around with. I KNEW we should have checked that birth certificate more carefully!
OK, it's probably not true. But, since it was written by an unbiased, fair and balanced media source, we have every right to beleive it.

Yeah, and five paragraphs into that story you get, 'there is no indication in the document that the group played any formal role in the official Obama transition". So wtf??

One of the 13 dead was a private from St. Paul, a young married guy.

It is disgusting murder. For a soldier, it is traitorous. For a doctor, it is a serious violation of ethics and Hippocratic oath. There is no defense of it. There's an old stereotype of psychiatrists going into psychiatry to try to heal their own problems, which may have some truth here.

The few psychiatrists I've met all had more issues than their patients possibly could have had but I think this one's problems go beyond the psychiatric profession.

One of the 13 dead was a private from St. Paul, a young married guy. And one was a 21 year old local guy from Bolingbrook.

Thanks Bill - the Army won't release a name until the individual families are notified. I haven't found anything yet via Google.

I can't find a casualty list - could somebody post a link? Are you guys getting this from the local news? Thanks. They are dribbling in via various sources... As the army informs relatives, some of those relatives inform local news. For example A pregnant woman from Chicago is reportedly among the 13 people killed in the Fort Hood shootings Thursday. Kelvyn Park High School graduate Francheska Velez, 21, had just returned from Iraq, and was pregnant, her uncle told CBS 2. ---- Private First Class Michael Pearson, 21, was among the 13 who had been killed in the shooting rampage. Sheryl Pearson told the Chicago Tribune that she and her husband learned that their son, Pfc. Michael Pearson, was killed in the Ft. Hood attack. -----

as you said, nothing official has come from the Army yet. They're a little slow in releasing info. I hope they do a thorough job of interrogating the shooter. And then I hope they release the news that he died of the gunshots incurred on Wednesday (right after they put a bullet through his head).
