I want to embed a video in a post, and the site gives me html code to post, but I certainly don't know what to do with it - or whether it's even possible to embed things in posts here.

When you are in the reply box, you should see a bunch of icons above the smiley faces. One is a globe. That allows you to insert html links. The code looks like this (but without the question marks, I had to insert those to "break" it so you could see the text): [url?]insert your url link here[/url?] If you do this: [?url= XXXX]blah blah blah[/url?] and insert the url for your link after =, instead of XXXX, and whatever text you want to appear on the screen as the link instead of blah blah blah, clicking on that text link will take us to the url. So [?url=http://www.purple.com/purple.html]purple[/url?] (without question marks) looks like: purple

I don't think it can be done.
The embedding of videos is limited to those on youtube, thanks to the specially programmed "[youtube]" tag.

John, a video other than youtube?
Too slow. I was trying to see if I could embed my Vimeo video in the youtube link, but it doesn't work.
