Well I just fininished wrapping Susan's presents. She's in bed. I did my whirl-wind-final-day-of-shopping this afternoon. Not that I waited for everything until the end. I had it all pretty well figured out. I was just looking for some fun little things to flesh it out.
I'm not very good a wrapping. That's one of those jobs a guy never should get good at. Then, you'd be asked to help wrap other things. Best to be a little ragged with the task. And I do that with a flare. Sometimes I combine scraps of 2 different papers Sue has in the closet. It's even better if they don't match.
Anyway. I always enjoy packaging things together. Nothing came in a box this year. So: 1. I used an air-filter box for one item. 2. And an old camera box with compartments to put some various little other things in. 3. And the piece-de-resistance is a silly little box for a strange glass cube gift I got the other day from another guitar buddy. (no one here). She laughed at the thing when I opened it up. Now it's been re-wrapped for her, glass block and all, with another small gift hidden inside. I'm sure she'll figure out what it is when she picks it up. But she won't figure out the surprise till she opens it.
It's fun being devious sometimes.
Oh, and I got a couple of fun cards with various items stuffed inside; like a dark chocolate bar and a Starbucks gift certificate.
I also found some funny and appropriate cards for the daughters and their significant others.
Job complete.
Merry Christmas.

Marshall, you haven't been corresponding with Lars have you? He can't wrap either. Both of you need a time out. *pawsonhips*
However, I daresay you have managed to redeem yourself in very creative ways ... perhaps I could ship Lars off for a week to your place. I'm just kidding.
Your thoughtfulness shines through as always.

I DID try to sent you and Lars a thankyou email. I don't know if I had the right email address.
I am thoroughly enjoying, loving Lars discs. That boy is a wonderful writer/performer. (another reason to be jealous of him ?)
Ho, Ho, Ho.

Not being able to wrap is a guy thing.
Marshall, it's funny how the little presents are more fun in some ways than the big ones. I always get Diane a "big" present, like a dress, but getting creative with stocking stuffers is the better part of the deal.

I am a master at present wrapping, but don't do it very much. My wife thinks it takes me a hour or so to wrap a present, probably left over from the days when I'd wrap one, then take an alcohol induced nap. My son and I wrapped nine presents in 15 min yesterday afternoon, but stayed in a private room "finishing" for 2 more hours.
And I hate Tofu!

Yours is real special Todd. It's in a dumpster.
My mom is the queen of creative gifts. She volunteers work at a thrift shop. She pratically runs the place (excet she says she won't do that. But everybody lets her do everything she's willing to do.)
Anyway, every year she gives out thrifty presents to everyone at the family gathering, that she's been saving all year. Nothing over a buck or two. It's the most fun part of the evening; waiting to see what she's come up with for everyone.
That, plus she makes individual Christmas cards by cutting all our pictures out and pasting them into movie scenes or magazine ads.
Loads of fun.
I love my mom.
