Heck, we still have this forum, might as well post something. A few more from my recent camping trip. Here's the creek I was headed for, way down below. A topo map would have told me there were steep canyon walls but I didn't have one and I thought this road would take me right up to the side of the creek. Blooms. I was fairly high up, but even high up you see an odd phenomenon. The dry, sunny, south-facing walls of canyons have desert vegetation. The cool, north-facing slopes have Douglas firs. Same tree that predominates in BC. This was taken on the side with desert vegetation but you can see the Canadian vegetation on the other side. That's the moon looking like a sunburst; you get that effect with a very small aperture. Here's the sun lighting up a ridge of the other side of the canyon at sunrise. I like the way the trees seem to float in nothingness.

Nice shots. The canyon looks exactly like parts of Glenwood Canyon in Colorado. The second shot brings to mind an article in one of the current photo mags about using flash in outdoor shots. I've never done it but that 2nd one looks like it might have been a good circumstance to give it a try and see what might happen.
Love the light in the 3rd pic ...
cheers kb
