Honda is bragging, understandably, in full-page ads about its 10-year average for fuel economy of all their vehicles. Theirs deliver a CAFE of 30.1 miles per gallon. The industry average is 24.8.
Of course, Honda makes a lot fewer SUVs and trucks than most other car companies, but it's still an amazing number.
Note: These are passenger-car and light-truck figures only, so, for instance, GM and Ford and Chrysler's numbers would not be dragged down by their industrial trucks. Those companies do, however, suffer from a preponderance of SUVs and pickups in their lineups.

On my way back from lunch today, I saw a new high (low?) in vehicular stupidity -- a Hummer with low profile tires. Of course I suppose they do improve the fuel economy...
