LJ who? Somewhere in the back of my head I wondered why you never followed John over here, but I figured it was the political stuff. By the way, I have a three year old plastic and titanium valve in my chest, and as long as it keeps clicking, it's all good. Mike Wonder pS I'm drinking a Dead Guy as I type. Yes, I am quite talented. Mike, nice to hear from you. I would follow John anywhere and politics does not scare me--Maybe I should say talking about politics does not scare me. The actual stuff does scare me a bit, but that is another story. Barb has that distinctive click going, too, and I find it very soothing when we are drifting off to sleep at night. These are the experiences that make us aware of what is truly important in life and what isn't. Glad to hear you are doing well and enjoy that Dead Guy! LJ

Welcome Doc LJ, I am glad you are here as I never had a chance to thank you. You changed my life. I used to be a deeply distrustful and cynical person. I always assumed, hell, believed deeply and truly, that all those magazine giveaways were made up bamboozles won by fictitious entities for cheap, commercial purposes. Then, I found out that you had won a guitar giveaway. Two even. And that you were real. That one bright ray lit the entire basement, which enabled me to find the light switch, which then revealed the stairs, which led upstairs, out the door, and into a world of sunshine, blue skies and tweeting little birds. I was released. Or renewed. Or reborn. Re-somthingend. I quit my job, bought a Harley, tattooed my wife and joined an upbeat cult that encouraged lots of singing, pipesmoking, and wife-swapping. Which is where I met Jeff. Which led me here. Which now allows me to finally thank you, I'm tempted to make a comment about the joys of a pipesmoking wife, but I fear that might be a tad excessive.

Welcome home LJ!!! It's wonderful to hear how Barb has bounced back.
Congrats on your retirement. If you miss hordes of seventh graders, we are a pretty good substitute.

Welcome, indeed. I remember you from the AG forums, though I didn't wander over here until later. Life kinds of slaps us around a bit sometimes, sounds like you came out of it well.
And Cargos rule, wood drools. That's just the way it is.....

I appreciate all the welcomes and good wishes. I'm glad I made that initial post.
Barb is tough and does not let things hold her back. She got a notice from the fitness center the other day that she has lifted 1.5 million pounds since she started the strength training.
I spent 39 years with 7th graders. I still break into cold sweats when I think of it.

Seventh graders are at precisely the age when they should be transported off planet for the next ten years. They can sulk without bothering everyone else.

Seventh graders are at precisely the age when they should be transported off planet for the next ten years. They can sulk without bothering everyone else. Oh, I dunno, Sek. Old school teacher friend said there is no lower form of life than a 14 year old girl, which would be grade 9. Boys, it lasts longer, but not as deep. But then, I've survived one such young lady. Second one is 13 1/2, and good so far, if a trifle moody at times. But I guess we all are.

Welcome back. It is a fun thing to hear from new people and returnees here. It's extra cheering when they bring good news stories like your wifes recovery.

I used to have 5 classes a day, but that was as close as I ever felt I got, Paul. By the way, spell check wants to change LJ to LBJ so maybe I will have come up with a new identity. I have to say, I always preferred to be around the middle school kids more than the high school kids. The younger ones had a lot more energy and I had a lot of fun with them over the years. It is just the older I got, the harder it was to keep up with that energy level. Finally, it was impossible. I enjoy my peaceful mornings now. LJ

Welcome back, LJ. I think I joined here shortly after things got so hectic for you, and never got a chance to "meet" you.
I'm impressed so far, though. Your post count is soaring.

I guess we crossed paths as well, LJ! Thanks for sharing all that info and glad to hear things are going well for your wife! I too recently retired from a career in a public school system. Life is good "on the other side". As you can see...this group is hungry for new blood so watch yourself...I'm just sayin. Oh...and be sure to attend IJam...cuz if you don't they'll never let you live it down!!! ;D
