As you can see we don't take things all too serious around here, unless the question is ours.
We love to have fun, we talk about just about anything, even music. I may be the lone bass player in the bunch but they tolerate me because, ....well Im not sure why they tolerate me.
Give us the 2 cent bio. Where you from, what kind of guitar(s) do you own and what style do you like/want to play.

Don't listen to the rest of these mutts. I am the afore-mentioned goddess. Mind Johnne about the couch and I'll try to keep them off your back. Welcome to our forum. No spitting on the floor. Guitar related posts are welcome. Don't let J scare you, he's nice. Seriously, it is a pretty cool place and I'm glad you found us.

Any resemblance to Jack Nicholson's Joker costume is unintentional...I hope.

Welcome, new guy. Or old guy logging in under an alias.
I'm an older guy here, been playing the same stuff - folk, blues, rock - from the 60s in a mediocre fashion for close to 50 years. I still enjoy it. Have A Taylor 312CE, a Barbarossa B-00, and a classical Goya from the 60s. Also a hand built by me dulcimer, and a digital Yamaha piano.

Welcome aboard. When I lived in Germany, I knew a Von der Blank. I wonder if you are related.
(I've been picking for 20 years and I still suck...)

The .02 bio: My first memories of "live music " was of my dad playing banjo with another guy playing guitar in our house on a Sunday afternoon. I foolishly choose to play the drums. I was in a lot of garage/ basement bands as well as band in school. I played in some groups that had steady gigs. I was even in the local musicians union for a couple of years. I put down the drumsticks four years ago and bought myself a piano. I've been taking private lesson weekly.
The guitar that I using is a Martin D18 that belongs to my mother in law. Its that classic story, where she fell and couldn't get up. Luckily we went to visit her that day and she only laid on the floor with a broken arm for about 1/2 hour. She moved into a nursing home and had to get rid of most of her stuff. That's how I acquired the Martin.
I found the forum when I was looking to find what kind of strings to get and how to put them on a guitar.
I tried 3 times to register as someone other than Phil, but got shot down each time. Then I followed the directions and selected
Someone ask about my location. I live in the suburbs around Wright Patterson Air Force Base. My congressman is Boehner. LOL.

Ahhh, a Daytonian.
I earned a few credit hours here & there at Wright State.
Back in the day, that is.

Where you around during the 70's? I can hardly remember my school daze. Wright State class of 1974. How did you wind up in Baton Rouge?

Phil,
You should fit in well here. Most of us are Baby Boomers. A few are older, and there are a few kids amongst us, but most fit in somewhere in the sixties.
We used to be in the sixties, now we are the sixties. Go figure.

Welcome Phil!!!
I'm a banjo player and they tolerate me.
Not only has the Cargo Cult infiltrated the SoundHole, there is a banjo underground, a few dulcimer players, and a fiddler who outclasses us all.

Hi, Phil, and welcome. I'm happy to report I am not a baby boomer. One's nativity must have been in the period 1946-1964, inclusive, to qualify for that appellation and I predate that period. The key chord on a guitar in standard tuning is Em7(Sus4). Master that chord and everything else will come. Glad to have you here. - Dub

Welcome Phil! Another pre-boomer here. I was new a couple of years ago and still stay out of the political discussions, not that I'm saying you shouldn't--- This place is quite a microcosm of the human condition. I love it.
