I don't need for it to be tomorrow, I need for it to be Friday. Let me know when Wednesday is Friday.

Up and awake. Poor Julie is sick, which also means she is awake and mean. House cleaning and shopping on tap for today.

Good morning. Didn't get to the golf course yesterday and it's supposed to rain today but tomorrow, the first day of winter, is forecast to be in the 60s, sunny with light southerly breeze so I'll try to get out there. That's why I moved south and I need to take advantage when I can. Spent yesterday cleaning the bird cages and the room that houses the pool table (which is where I found the box that had the key to the old guitar case in it) but that's a different thread. Almost ready for Christmas and my son and I can actually play pool if we want to. Haven't seen the top of that table in a year. Have a good day.

I'm here... So now the days will start to get longer, yes? And the nights shorter, yes? Winter solstice and I haven't had to do a lick of serious snow shoveling yet... probably not good for the water tables, but it's good for my back.

Good morning. All three of my dogs and one cat are still asleep. Co Co the Toy Poodle, gets up when I do but right back to sleep under my feet when I get my coffee and sit down.
Anyhoo, I have my list of "to do's", ready, it's just that I'm not. I have office work to do that I've been procrastinating on and we'll just have to wait and see if I get on it today. I also have to go by the motorcycle shop and pick up a new shield I ordered for my helmet. I'm going to have to get that done.

Good morning. Middle child comes home for the holidays late this evening. I'm trying to ignore the holiday hoopla but I'll still enjoy the good parts of it.

Morning. It hit 40* yesterday and looks like it could again today. The only snow is in the woods and yard, the open areas are, um, open. No snow. We have had Decembers like this in the past. Maybe once, twice or thrice in the last fifty or sixty years.
A lot of heating money/energy is being saved across the north.

Mornin'.....
Up for a while.....early enough to have coffee with Barb and get her off to work. Kids have a 2 hour delay, the 3 exams. With the snow, the rest of the exams will be done when they go back on Jan. 5.
Trying to get this half moved into house ready for company for a soup supper on Friday. And Joshua comes for the weekend. He'll sleep in the music room.

We are wrapping up a large job for the New Orleans Corps of Engineers. It is a fabulously expensive survey in the infamous 9th Ward. There were 4 shootings in our work area while my crew was there. The money they are and will be spending in that ghetto amazes me. Even though we are trillions of dollars in debt, we are still spending hundreds of millions of more borrowed money in order to make water flow out of a below sea level cesspool a little faster. Cool beans. Wish my contract with them would last a little longer. I would love to stay on the gravy train till it goes off the rails. I will have a new reality after our Corps contract ends. The company income will be cut by more than half. I spend a lot of time thinking about who stays and who has to go. And If I have to lay them off, there are no prospects around here. I believe those let go will soon lose their cars, houses, etc. It really weighs on the mind. But that is next year albeit early next year. Now I need to focus on my kids coming home and enjoying the season. Anyway, if I get busy and don't check in much, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and all that stuff.

Started out at 34F this morning. Inside it was 62. Yes, the furnace failed sometime this morning. Seems to be a controller problem. Mr. H cleaned everything up and so far it's working, but it's still cold.
Not a horrible day, just an inconvenience. We have a lunch with our social club. Depending on how things go, we may make it.

Alan, best of luck. I completely understand the anxiety about keeping people employed in this economy.

Woke up in extreme pain from my sciatica, which has come on like gangbusters in the past couple of months.
But, it's sunny, supposed to be 68 today, and everyone else is healthy and happy. So...it's all good. Plus there is a hot tube here.
