Dar and I are finally getting around to renting some videos. We usually catch up on the year's movies in the Winter. That also means we usually forget what sounded interesting throughout the year.
What were the most entertaining movies this past year? We've just rented RED, and Kung Fu Panda, and Tangled, and I have Source Code for tonight.

Both those were fun.
The Help is an amazing movie. Thor was fun. Green Lantern was fun. Pirates of the Caribbean. Harry Potter.

Just watched Source Code. What did you think? We both quite liked it - great concept, very well executed.

We Bought a Zoo A Dolphin's Tale
I haven't seen Chipwrecked, but a couple of 11 year olds I know highly recommend it.

It won't be out on DVD for a while, but we liked The Descendants. There were some stock characters (such as the foul-mouthed adolescent female and her dumb boyfriend) but the screenwriters gave the stock characters a lot more depth. Hawaiian music and scenery helped a lot.

Just watched the 3rd Svedish Girl/dragon Tattoo flick. Got it free from the Library. And when you get the DVD you can watch it in Swedish with subtitles or dubbed English. We chose dubbed English for this one. The dubbers did a great job in general. And it's a great flick. Love Noomi Rapace.
Of course you need to see/read the first two stories, or it won't make sense. But it's great.

Harry Potter is the only new movie I saw this year. It was a good one, though.

Be careful clicking on any suggestions Epaul e mails you.....by careful I mean look around to make sure you are alone.
Lessee.....was True Grit a 2011 flick? If so, or you haven't seen it yet I think it's the last really good film I've seen.
The latest Planet of the Apes didn't totally suck.

Some lesser known, but worthy movies:
Corn Row Spacing: Wide vs. Narrow
Soybean Fertility Goals for Top Yields
NDSU Wheat Varietal Trials
Farmer Fashions: How to Look Your Best at the Co-op
All these, and more, should be available at your local county extension office.
Oh, I almost forgot a dandy, Sunflower Insect Pests. Lot's of great action shots in this one.

I've read (listened to) all the Dragon Tattoo books. I could see if they have the sveedish versions. That's an idea.
So, aside from Soybean Fertility stuff, 2011 was a pretty dry year for good movies, eh?
I'll check out True Grit. It's actually the first one I rented but when I got it home I realized that my little DVD player doesn't work with the 13" TV we were using. The remote for the other 13" TV had broken and, perversely, it left us unable to use that TV. It actually required the remote to change channels. Yeah, I'd never seen that either. Anyway, I bought a new universal remote for that TV and I'm back in the movie biz.
