I was all set to watch and my wife came in and said no way. But I did watch him cross Niagara Falls a few years ago.

Watched the final third of the walk after our last set last night. I truly don't know what to say.

I'm afraid of heights. We were at Cedar Point last week with me wimping out of all the roller coaster rides. Last night Jadene and Haley were watching the insanity in the Grand Canyon and I walked in for the last part. I pointed out that it all starts with roller coasters, that roller coasters are a gateway drug.
I don't think they bought it, but I'm sticking with that story.

We watched it, and I wondered why we subjected ourselves to it. My husband was sweating. I wondered periodically, what if he falls off and gets killed on national TV? How will the Discovery Channel spin that? I noted that the corporate sponsors were for daredevil stuff: helmet cameras, Ninja motorcycles...no mainstream company would likely want to be associated with it if Wallenda died.

I didn't watch it last night, but I watched it just now, and read about it here. Two quotes from that: And then It's still really, really high though.

My Friend Estrella Berosini (one of Joni's "Ladies of the Canyon") had this to say:
Estrella, Circus Girl, and the entire Berosini Circus Family, here and in The Czech Republic, loudly applauds Nik Wallenda for his amazingly difficult and dangerous walk across The Grand Canyon. As the daughter of another high wire walker, I can attest that this feat had far more things that could have gone wrong than were spoken of or anticipated. Bravo, Nikky!!!!
Estra's father Vaclav Berosini was the only non family member to perform with the Wallendas.
Another quote from Estra: I am friends with a few members of the Wallenda family. My aunt, Josephine Berosini/Konyot, remains the only woman to have walked across The Orange Bowl stadium in Miami, Florida. She was also the only woman ever to have performed a solo high wire act at Madison Square Gardens. The Berosini family, including my father Vaclav (Veno) Berosini, were invited to the USA, representing Czechoslovakia at the 1939 World's Fair in NYC. A few posts below this is a photo of my father walking the wire. The Wallenda and Berosini circus families are both part of the very few occupying the upper echelon of circus aerial performers.
I knew Estrella back in the days of the Flick Coffee House in Miami during the Sixties. She is a marvelous singer.
