WOW,!!!
Don just called. What a thankful man. He's been up and walking, the doctor is thrilled, and his wife is bringing over bbq. Miracles, indeed.

BBQ??? Of course. An important component of a heart-healthy diet.

BBQ??? Of course. An important component of a heart-healthy diet. And a great celebration before he gets back to his celery.

From Don's Facebook page this morning. Within 48 hours of receiving his new heart, Don is virtually free of all lines and tubes, eating solid food, walked to the end of CCU and back (30 yards) and is wisecracking with the nurses.
I snapped this as we FaceTimed this afternoon. Don looks amazing and is in high spirits. Can I get an amen?

Scott Dean, who I don't know, just posted this on FB
"I just got off the phone with Don Clark, calling from his hospital room in KC. As many of you know, he received a new heart earlier this week! I was amazed at how strong his voice is, a good sign I'm sure. He's got work to do yet, but as he put it "I'm on the other side of that table now!" Outstanding."

Just looking at that photo Marty posted, and thinking how he looked just last weekend on the IJ video chat...WOW!
A new heart does a guy good!

Hey gang!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess what? It's in and it works great! Initial recovery is definitely coming along way faster than I expected. Thought I'd have to endure 3-4 days of hell before I got to where I am. It's mind boggling and exciting. Couldn't be more pleased!
Tamarack.....ASAP!!!!!
Re: Donor.....obviously hugely grateful, will be able to make contact with donor family and send a thank-you letter in one year.
Terry Kennedy and Shannon.....my first post-op echo showed that my EF with the new heart jumped from 19% to 65% !!!!
All for now.....time for more rest and the second half of the Denver/KC game.
You all are such a special part of my life.....now I'll have more time to enjoy you!

This is thrilling to hear. All the waiting and uncertainty, it must have been hard to bear. But what a great outcome.

on edit: also, throughout all this does there happen to be a particular chord/chords or riff that you've been thinking of?

Good morning Don! Every day is another miracle, no? SO happy for you and your family. It was great, but worrying to "see" you at IJ. Now I am full of relief and anticipation. We are going to try our best to get back to IJ next year and we expect to see you there! What an amazing world we live in. *gentle hugs*
