Part of being "your own boss" meant in 27 years I never had a snow day as so much of my biz was not local. Come to think of it, being one's own boss means every time the phone rings, it's the boss on the line.
Good morning.

Good Morning Good People
Clear and single digits. Snow tomorrow so they tell us. Working downtown today. Here in the concrete canyons of the big city, the wind comes from all directions at once. Pondering glaciers this morning, because my work involves soil and groundwater in glacial deposits and there is a glacier creeping down our street.
Have a tolerable Tuesday one and all.

It's below zero again, and all the schools are delayed after an inch of snow. Don't laugh. An inch of snow will block off roads with the wind blowing like it is and no trees to stop it.

After the chiding I received on Sunday at church and the efforts of our own Sek here yesteray, I feel compelled to report that the sun is shining here in west Michigan. It makes a huge difference in one's outlook. But it is COLD. And it feels like the huge difference stops just short of being "enough". But I attempt to be positive. Could "positive" be the word of the day, please?

Morning Bit nippy out there but I have to go out and clean ice off the walkways. Can't have customers going ass over teakettle on slick ice, might damage a guitar.

G'mornin' - 06:40 here and I don't miss the weeks of below freezing weather at all . As I mentioned on my facebook update, ABC news warned that, though the midwest from Chicago to Indianapolis was in for a storm that would drop up to six inches of snow, as that storm moved eastward it was going to get worse and might drop upwards of a half a foot of snow. well of course they did,,,everyone knows that half a foot is more than 6 inches and up to is no where near as much as upwards of. As my mother said, "It's six of one and half dozen of the other."

If you only start your generator every 6 months or so or when you think you might need it, make a note. There are 3 things you need to do after putting gas in it, set the choke, turn it on and turn the gas valve on, then pull the cord. That gas valve being in the OFF position is a killer on your pulling arm. I always forget that thing. Anyway, got the gas cans full, got the generator started so I know it works if I need it and moved the snow shovel from the garden shed to the back porch. That should keep the storm away.

I ended up having a fever after all, so cancelled my appointments and came home. Feeling better after a long nap.
And, after hearing from you guys, I feel better about the chilly weather here. At least we aren't threatened with snow, and our temps will stay in the positive numbers.

Yes it is. I shoveled the driveway. 0. I probably should have, but with the wind blowing so hard this morning I figured I'd just have to shovel again tonight.
