One of my high school classmates is giving/performing/ a pipe organ concert at the First Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL this Sunday. He was pretty good last time I heard him and he's had 44 years of practice (Rockford is somewhere around Chicago isn't it?)

Rockford is about 85 miles northwest of Chicago. Maybe 85 miles NW of your severely S location. But much closer for me. Probably 50 mi. I go out to Rockford on occaission. Jim Worland's shop is out there. But I'm not much of an organ buff. We've got a nice pipe organ in our church. I'd trade it for a couple of nice Worland guitars, personally. (Probably 100 at the price differntial ) Don't mean to be so funky. Organ recitals are the highest form of the instrument's art. I'm sure it will be a wonderful concert for those that love the big robustness only a good pipe organ can give. Didn't Boris Karloff play organ?

I was directing from here so that adds about 30 miles.

We have a primo pipe organ in our church. It's moving in a literal sense to sit through a recital. Your innards vibrate. I've greatly enjoyed some recitals when the organist is first rate and not too conservative in choosing pieces to play.

I really liked the Rockford Files. James Garner was wonderful.

If you go to Rockford, just about every hardware store sells files. They have some really big Bastards.

Jim Worland's shop is out there. The latest issue of Vintage Guitar has a nice review of the Worlland Prairie. It is one of his lower priced($2000) plainly appointed guitars. The review is quite good.

I own the first OM Worland sold (at least he told me when I ordered it that no one had ordered an OM from him before). I love it.

I took a summer college Spanish course between HS and collitch at Univ. of Pennsylvania. For about 3 weeks there was a music student preparing for a recital of Bach's music on the massive pipe organ they had in the main concert hall. I would eat lunch on the stage surrounded by all those pipes then lay back and feel the organ and stage vibrate my entire body. It was absolutely glorious.
