preview.tinyurl.com/pza8subGuess I'm going to learn how Opera works as an IE replacement. Can't handle the bloat that Firefox has become. There's no estimate as to when MS will have a patch available.

The danger exists through the use of Adobe Flash in IE. I read that if you disable Adobe Flash the virus won't work. Adobe has also put out a patch for the problem but so far only for Windows 8. Not sure why. The Microsoft patch, when it comes, will not be sent to XP users because they no long support XP. I disabled Flash but I think I am going to try Google Chrome and see what I think of it.

I don't use IE unless I have to. Chrome is great.

Go to a page that uses flash, like the weather channel site, click on tools. Then click on manage add ons. You should see Adobe Flash. Click on disable. You can enable it the same way once there is a Microsoft patch.

Our IT guy told us to use Google Chrome instead for now. Fine with me, as it's what I use at home.

I have not used Chrome before but I think I will give it a try. Should be an easy download and transition--I hope.

I have been switching back and forth between Chrome, Opera and Firefox. Trying to get comfortable with anything but Firefox. Both Chrome and Opera are fine except that Chrome has a built in flash player that sometimes conflicts with the regular flash. I tried the Chrome fix and it didn't work so any thing that has a long flash window I use Opera for.

I use Firefox and have no problem with it. I fear that when more people start using Firefox, it will be a target and I'll have to start using something else. There are mumblings about Linux for our next computers from sysadmin (aka my retired software engineer husband). I understand that you can use Firefox with that. But there may be issues that I don't know about.
I also have IE. Can't remember the last time I used it, but sysadmin installed the patch today. I can't believe that Microsoft took so long to make the fix available.

Thanks for the heads up. I just downloaded the patch and the world is all fuzzy and warm again.
