I'z here
Had one of dem monsoon storms last evening. Knocked out the power for about 3hrs. We played Yatzee. As the dark came on we played Yatzee by candle light. Which brings us to the magazine thread. Remember Tap's Tips in Boys Life and later in Outdoor Life. I gained a lot of outdoor knowledge from Tap's Tips. One thing I remembered was how to make more light from a candle. Went and got the 3x mirror from the bathroom and put it behind the candle aiming the projected light at the table.

Good morning. Doug, playing games when the power is out is a classic monsoon experience. We had storms all around us but nothing much here. Still, much of the state is getting a good watering.
Painters will be arriving early to start on the kitchen, which will be out of commission for three days. Unavoidable.
Have a good day everyone.

Well. 3" of rain last night and probably as much or more tonight. Might take a walk down through the park and see how "Danger Dam" is doing. Should be roiling and boiling today.

Morning
Still rather cool here, low 70s today.
If things work out I'll be heading north tomorrow morning for a few days. Doing some volunteer maintenance work at a church camp, working on their PA. The camp has been in private hands since the 1930s and I get to metal detect their beach and swim area. There is a real good chance that I'm the first person to do this, but that doesn't mean there is anything there to find, we'll see.

Thunder and rain all around us last night, but we only got a few sprinkles. Later today I'm driving Mr. H to Tucson to see his retinal specialist. We're taking overnight bags in case we're trapped by a monsoon storm. Also taking a cooler so we can stop at Trader Joe's if all goes well at the doctor and the creek don't rise.

Good to hear that AZ is getting some rain. Keep it up, storm gods!
I'm digging our weather. Sunny, clear, crisp, fresh, and clean with a high of 70.
Checking out my lilies to see which ones will be ready to enter in the Pennington County Fair this Thursday. There are a couple likely prospects.
Everything sure is lush and green up here.

Went golfing early. 7am, this morning to try and beat the heat, it was about 80-85 and humid. Played 9 and was tied with my real golfer buddy through 6. Then I fell apart and lost by 10. Still, I'm doing better than last year and if I could just keep it up through a whole round I'd be about average for an old guy. I'd take that.
Having some e-commerce problems. I received the lawn mower parts I ordered last week from Land and Coats but the box only contained a few washers and a packing slip listing all the parts I ordered. The box didn't look damaged. I'm out $50 because I can't prove I didn't get the parts. Then I ordered some stuff from Amazon but UPS returned it to Amazon because they didn't recognize my address in their system. It was the right address. It was the same address they delivered the mostly empty box to. They don't think my zip code exists but I've been using it for years. Amazon won't re-ship but I'm free to reorder. Both Amazon and UPS customer support are useless. I'll never order anything from Land and Coats again either. I'd shop local if there was local shopping here. Maybe it's worth the drive to wherever I'd need to go.

Woke up to 77 degrees inside and 83 degrees outside. Last night was the local Has House Harrier's weekly run, this time with the circle at a house with a pool, so Huckleberry and I ditched the 97degree high humidity run and went straight to the pool.
After my physical therapy appointment today I head south to Orange County for a sleep over at Tom's house, then a haircut with Crazy Leslie and dinner with luthier Kathy Wingert.
It is rare when I am allowed out of town by myself.
