Little glue, some wood putty and it will be as good as new.

What the heck, there are a lot of pieces... a little bondo, some purple paint... what's not easy? You can get duct tape that color now, too.

I'd take a shot at buffing that out before I started butchering it up with a bunch of duct tape.

Nah, just put a sticker on that scratch, and nobody'll notice.

A jealous wife'll do stuff like that. He'll never mess around with the fiddle player again.

What make? Is it worth putting on a new side and back? Possible Gibson A model, not a Harmony, I don't see great gobs of glue around the braces.

That makes it easier to work on the inside.

That makes it easier to work on the inside. Install the pickup first, Mr. Shenk. Shave the braces, too!

SS Steward, could be several different makers. Regal/Harmony being one of them.

SS Steward, could be several different makers. Regal/Harmony being one of them. I suspect that the repair will exceed the instrument's value, but it might be paid for by insurance (an Irish airline damaged it) and it might be either a really good instrument worth saving, a treasured piece, or a mandola that would be more expensive to replace or find.

If he'd have gone with the duct tape, he'd already be finished. But whatever.

Now that can see the front it looks like it may have been made by Lyon & Healy or early Regal.
