Today got off to a turd-burger of a start.
Angie left to take Mary to school. I get a call a few minutes later that they'd been in an accident. They were sitting at a stoplight when some bonehead kid (texting, no doubt) rear-ended them.
When it was all said and done, five cars were involved.
The good news is none of the cars are all that bad and neither Angie nor Mary were seriously hurt (at least not in the "need to get pried out of the mangled wreckage and rushed to the hospital" sense).
The bad news is Mary's back was injured in a different car accident four months ago and she tweaked it again. Angie's had a bad back for years and her's got tweaked as well. So its off to the doctor's for both of them.
Other than that, today looks to be spectacular! Its Monday, its raining, the kids didn't get the trash cans out in time, the roof is leaking at the office, and I'm off to buy some lottery tickets.

I was feeling karmicly put upon this morning because I had just noticed that the socks I put on this morning didn't match and I would have to go all the way back to the bedroom in order to change one of them out.
But, compared to your morning, I guess I have to admit mine could have been worse... still, it is a bother, and I don't know if I will.

But sometimes my feet don't match.

I was rear ended 15 years ago by a guy in a Chevy Blazer checking his pager. I was at a full stop at a red light on Hiawatha Avenue, he was doing 30. Totaled my Acura hatchback, totaled my Twin Reverb, fortunately didn't total me, but my back hasn't been the same since. Glad to hear that Mary and Angie weren't seriously hurt.

…totaled my Twin Reverb, … Oh, NO! What year? 1994 Twin. Helluvan amp, but way too big and powerful for anything short of a stadium gig.

1994 Twin. Helluvan amp, but way too big and powerful for anything short of a stadium gig. I had a '66 or '67 Twin Reverb once and really liked it. Bought it new in downtown Chicago from Lyon and Healy. Wound up selling it to my brother and it got burned up in a fire. Never played a stadium gig though. Not with electric instruments anyway, just acoustic bluegrass.

Hope Mary feels better soon.
Other than that: sorry to hear of all the drama and trauma. You know what Mama said about days like this.

Sorry that your girls had a bad start to their day Jeff. It sucks.
My girlfriend and I went to Detroit in say ... 1979 ... for a flute master class (she participated). On our way down some main street in the pouring rain at two in the morning some jerk rain into the back of our car, backed up and took off, totaling the rear end. We sat there and waited until someone stopped to help out listening to random gunshots. Finally the police arrived and crawled along the side of the car pointing guns at our heads. They told us to get out of there. We couldn't. They yanked at the rear fender and got us on the road sort of. We headed straight to the border and I never went back to Detroit.
Had a great Canadian Thanksgiving Day. The next door neighbours joined us for dinner (Swan Jam house Betty and Bob). Had lamb and stuff and apple pie. My first of the season. Wish I had made two. New crop spys. Yum.

Detroit....Detroit....the BIG Crabapple!!
Lived in Grosse Pointe once. Briefly kind of 'interned' with a reporter of the Detroit News.

Amazing how a normal day can change so quickly, and all plans change. I hope they both come out all right back-wise, and that your family can get back to normal.
Can't help you with the trash cans, however. Remember, I am a fellow Estrogenian, and have heard that "garbage is gross!" Well, that's why you take it out.

I lived in Warren MI, 1965-66 (senior year of high school). Saw Joni Mitchell at the Chessmate on 8 Mile Road. That was the ONLY good thing about my year in Detroit.

All is well in the short term. Rental car is safely in the garage, Angie and Mary are both scheduled for the doctor tomorrow, and my best electric amp was sold long ago so I presume its safe.
Hannah is grumpy about something, Jessica is grumpy about something, so everything is pretty much normal.
Detroit? I think the solution there is to have Canada annex it so everyone will be polite.
