Since it is World Series time back home, I'm thinking of baseball, and when I think of baseball, I think of announcers, and when I think of announcers, you will never hear anything more spine-tingling or poetic than Vin Scully's play-by-play call of the last three outs of Sandy Koufax's perfect game. I listen to it from time to time because like Koufax's game, Scully's work that night was flawless.
If you're a baseball fan (or even if you're not) listen to it. It will only take 8 minutes out of your life and Scully makes each second thrilling, even when he's silent.

LOVE that!
One of the great thrills of my youth was that game, that call.

The fact that it was contemporaneous and improvised is amazing. Most of us couldn't describe it that grippingly if we had an hour to write it out and then deliver it.

Brilliant, both Koufax and Scully.

Yup. That does it for me. Reading the transcript, I can hear Scully's voice.
