Good Morning Good People
Up early for the beginning of a long weekend. The memorial service for my Dad will be held tomorrow morning in Kalamazoo, which was their home in semi-retirement and retirement. Dad first dealt with military bureaucracy in 1943, now it continues as Ft. Custer National Cemetery doesn't do committal ceremonies on Fridays or Saturdays, the days most funerals are held. The committal service will be Monday morning, which means lots of hang out time between Saturday noon and Monday morning.
Off to Kalamazoo to meet with Mom, sister, and Mom's early-rising pastor. Brothers and nephews will be rolling in in late afternoon.
I think I will keep my composure when I speak at the memorial service about my Dad, the Tool Man. Not sure I will keep my composure when a military officer presents a flag to Mom, "on behalf of the President and a grateful nation"
There will be some difficult moments, but it will be good to gather the family. There will be laughter as well as tears.
Have a fine Friday one and all.

Saw Peter Rowan in a solo act last night in a bar. Good, but less than stellar. What was stellar was the bluegrass group that opened, Twisted Pine. A product of Berklee's roots program. Yowzaa!
Urk. Just noted the snow in the trees. Just a dusting.

Good morning.
My sympathies to Tamarack.
I suppose I should be happy there are still 2 digits in the temperature but the first is a 3 and that wrecks it for me now. There's no golf in the extended forecast that I can see. I'll need to get used to this for the next few months. No morning's coffee or late afternoon's Scotch on the back porch bums me out. Oh well, Winter leaves more time for guitar practice so I had my nails fixed up yesterday.

Pretty frosty out there this morning.
I have this coffee mug that one of the girls gave me a few years ago. Its been dropped and banged around enough, that the top of the handle has broken loose. You know its only a matter of time before the whole handle lets go, so its sort of like playing coffee roulette every time you take a sip.
Cheers and good morning!

G'mornin' - you can't fool me Jeff, you just like living dangerously.
The winter chill has reached the far left coast and it's been below freezing overnight for the last three days. Making good use of the wood stove.

It was expected and a blessing in many ways. but we're holding the memorial service on Saturday at our church. The Lutheran Home, where she was living, was the preferred place. BUT THEY WON'T DO A SERVICE ON SATURDAY. Bernice spent over $400k living there for the last 6 years. And they won't hold a memorial service on Saturday. . . . , so it'll be at out church instead. Oh and the internment will be Monday, because the cemetery charges $2k more for a Saturday burial than a Monday.

Good morning. Tamarack, my thoughts are with you.
It'll be 50s-70s here, finally nearing normal. I have to speak to a group at 9:00, then swap my suit for jeans and put in a busy day at the office. Enjoy your day.

Good morning - light skiff of snow on the ground. Interesting to be able to see how many critturs are running around at night around here. A day of lumber buying and autocad awaits.

Good morning. Patti and I have coffee on the front porch every morning. It's a three season porch, it's 12 degrees, this is not one of the three seasons, but we will put on coats and do it anyway.

Morning
First full day at the Podium today. Unlike Dinkytown there are no places to eat within a short walking distance of the new Podium, I'll pack a lunch. They do not have all the tools I consider proper so I will be taking my travel kit with a few extra goodies.

Too much death and dying as we get older. And too much taking advantage by end of life care providers. Opportunism at inopportune time. Wishing you peace and comfort, Tam.
And, yes, Rowan used the slot head 000. Remarkable guitar. The playing a little less so. Too much time with Garcia. Aimless jamming gone awry.

That is Rowan's Konkoly 000. It is a couple serial numbers before mine. Rowan said it is his main solo guitar. There are many photos of him using it on Joe's site.

Would you Midwesterners keep your polar vortex to yourselves? I have to be in Window Rock AZ on business on Monday morning. I just learned that the predicted low temperature there on Monday morning is 16 degrees.
