First let me apologize if I've asked this question before. I scanned a lot of my father's slides last year with the intent of sharing them with family, I scanned them in TIFF format so that I wouldn't loose much of the analog information however most of the 'easy' ways to share and to put them into a storage medium that can be transferred to others apply only to jpegs. question: Do any of you know of a FREE or CHEAP piece of software that will batch convert TIFF to JPG format (I know I can do it one by one, but there are thousands and I'm lazy) I'm using a program called 'Gif Tiff Wmf Bmp to jpeg 3000' which works just fine, but the free version puts a watermark on the photos and seems to be kind of buggy. I'd buy the software, but they want $139 for it, and I'm too cheap for that one. thanks in advance for any help !!

TIFF is somehow hard...?
It might be easier to provide the family that you'll be sharing with some instructions (link to an app or two) so that they can (1) do the conversion on their own, if they even need to, instead of you having to do it on the front end of things. (2) You're setting this up and sharing the photos, and you chose the format to preserve original photo info. Just explain that that is a condition/necessity of your photo sharing, this huge benefit that you're providing to everyone, and let whoever is on the receiving end deal with file issues on their own.

This is relatively easy to do in Photoshop, which has batch capabilities.
You can download the full-featured version on a free, 30 day trial basis.

Thanks Bruce that's exactly what I was looking for, simple and elegant, I'll have to make a donation for that one. jdd, its more that the new smart tvs (which most of these are going to be viewed on), don't handle TIFF, while most of the relatives can handle watching them on the computer it's harder and I'm trying to be the 'good' uncle and make it as easy as possible - mostly because of the family Christmas this year the easiest way was to put them all on a USB stick and plug it into the TV at the folks and let folks just poke around at them while they're here. ALSO in TIFF format it takes more than one DVD But I like your attitude I started this project 2 years ago and that's the answer I've been giving them - no takers

Jeff, I thought about that option, but I've successfully avoided Photoshop for almost twenty years and still felt guilty about downloading it and not intending to pay for it. Rather use shareware/freeware if possible at least then I'm a legal cheapskate

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but you could do them one at a time.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but you could do them one at a time. John you are a sweetheart , I'd already started doing that and realized that the task was overwhelming me I converted the slides that I've so far scanned using the converter Bruce suggested and put them on a USB stick,,,it came to over 29 gig,,,more than I wanted to do one at a time
