I know that twenty years ago I had at least one Word Processing program that would let me create a pamphlet from a document. It would automatically arrange the content so that when printed I could simply staple the sheets in the middle, fold and hand out. I've tried the three free WP programs I've got on my computer and the closest I can come is to print in two columns in landscape mode. I suppose I could physically move the content around and maybe get the same result, but I still believe that I should be able to find a software package that would do this automatically. Do any of you know of an add-on for LibreOffice, or a free software package that I could use to create a pamphlet? (or am I just being a cheap bastard and I should take it to my local print shop and fork out the money to have them format it as well as print it )

I use Open Office. I've never done a pamphlet, but OO has a lot of free templates you can download.

I've done it with Word using the shuffle pages around system, only a few misprints where page 5 came before page 2 etc. If you find one let me know.

Thanks for the tips, here's one for y'all. Since OpenOffice was acquired by xxxx the download includes crapware that is installed over your browser. I'll check with the LibreOffice forums. There is a tool that works independently of Open Office that, if you are familiar with paste up software and process, looks like might work, but it's much more complex than I remember being able to do with AmiPro (before it went TU when Lotus died). It's called Scribus, but it's really more than I want to deal with.

Not free, but for general info, it's in Microsoft Word 2010. (I've never used this feature, but hubby published a newsletter for 5 years and I was the proofreader.) Page layout/margins/custom margins. Pulldown on multiple pages. Select book fold.

Like most DTP systems, it's not a first choice word processor but its layout and publishing features are great. This might have solved Lar's color problem since it supports CMYK color separation.
