After a few years on facebook I have deleted my account. I'm tired of knowing that their kid took a dump or puked or he or she doesn't love me or I love my brother or sister. Why not tell them to their face.

The only reason I have a facebook account is pictures of the grandkids. I never post. Why can't they just send me the $%^&'in pictures.

It's like the first time you get a phone and check the phone book to see your name in it - Facebook verifies your existence.

It's neither a book, nor does it have a face. I call "fraud" on both counts.
When I signed on I was told it would make me richer, handsomer, and popular with the girls. So far? kitten pictures and Ellen DeGeneres videos.
I contacted facebook the other day trying desperately to get some of my gruntle back. I said, "I demand a refund!"
They said, "What?"

On the Internet, if it's free, you are the product.

You really have grounds for a lawsuit. It worked so opposite for you.

I was reluctant to get an account but did so years ago at the request of my niece. I've since discovered it is now the way people communicate. When my 3D friends and relations started using FB, I stopped getting any email from them at all.

It's become the primary communication for the Chicago music people I hang with. Everybody posts their events; and Reverbnation promo stuff; and Youtube videos. I stay connected with those people through there. I used to see more family and social friend posts. But not so much now. I figure people probably un-friended me because of all my likes of music people they never hear of; and my posting videos of musical people they don't care about. So, it's become marginalized. But as a communication vehicle of my Chicago music friends it's quite good; very similar to the Soundhole for chatting with you people. Nobody outside the tight community gives a crap abut what we talk about. But it's a way to keep in touch with certain people.
