Will be strolling about the State Fair today eating fried things on sticks. Get one of those batter encrusted, deep fried Twinkies on a stick while you are at it. The go great with any deep fried on a stick meat or meat-like products and wash it all down with a Jumbotron, Family-sized, heavily carbonated, naturally sweetened (meaning cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup) beverage of your choice. Skip the cotton candy. It is not good for you.

I was going to get a haircut today and then remembered it's $##! Labor Day. Weather finally got better so I'll probably fix my mailbox which has been deemed a neighborhood eyesore.

Being the non-conformist that I am, I'm working today, well work as retirement activities go. Got 3 computers to back up, half way through the 2nd one now, cleaned out and mulched the herb garden. Went around the place with vegetation killer to reclaim the driveway and edge around the house. Yesterday was just golf and a nap so this is work. I celebrate the successes of the labor movement, like the making of millionaire union bosses and the elimination of mine worker and steel worker jobs by the Democrats they elected. Oh, and I unfriended a relative who posted 20 successive Obama supporter things on Facebook.

We had our Labor Day BBQ yesterday, beat the rush. The weather was superb, the steak and chicken drew raves.
Today, visitation for the recently deceased father of a friend, then dinner with some other friends.
Otherwise, just puttering.

It's DRAFT DAY at the Hobo. No more stacks of paper scouting reports. This year I put everything on my laptop. Hello 21st Century!

Morning all Hot and very humid, once again the folks out at the fair are going to suffer. Right now I have quite a few big repair/restoration jobs in the works, good money, but they take time and I refuse to rush work or do less than my best just because I need the money. Nice windfall this weekend, I had two customers by on Saturday wanting big money work that can be properly done in just a few days. This means I have a little extra cash for IJ and don't have to do next weekend on a shoestring budget. All work done and happy customers too. Cheri and I will be leaving Thursday early morning. I will take us south at a leisurely pace to Prescott,MN where we will cross the river and take the Great River Road all the way to Prairie du Chien,WS. From there we cross back west into Iowa and as direct a route to Vinton as possible. The extra cash means treats along the way and stop or two at wineries & cheese shops.

Prescott is actually on the Wisconsin side, but who's scoring? A great place to stop on your river ride is this place: www.nelsoncheese.com/
