This one's really a banjo song at heart. It has a twelve-bar blues structure (though with a major scale and a rock beat) and the first two lines of each verse get repeated. I've been having fun playing it.
I don’t do well with rules So I keep a pair of wings nearby When I need to breathe I head off into the sky
Slipping in and out of clouds I watch the planet turn below It doesn’t need my help So I quit pushing long ago
When I started out I flew into a thunderhead I learned a lot from that And now I go around instead
I loop and then I roll I spiral up and then I dive Cause if you play it safe You still don’t make it out alive
If gravity’s a law It’s one I plan to disobey Of all the ways to lose The dumbest one is not to play

Looks great. i particulary like:
I loop and then I roll I spiral up and then I dive Cause if you play it safe You still don’t make it out alive
very cool !
Saying no to Gravity, seems a little dull for a title, though. I don't have anything else to offer. The title's supposed to be in the song. Maybe just "Gravity" will work.
I'd type out the repeat lines. The listener is familiar wih the repeat first line pattern. In fact, it signals the kind of tune it is.
I love the Slipping in and out of clouds, and I loop and then I roll lines. They are terrific openers. Very visual. I don't do well with rules, is not as strong of an opening line. But I suppose it juxtaposes with the rest of the lyric. Which then cycles back to the original "rules" concept at the end.
Maybe the title should be "I don't do well with rules?" ( I probably like "Gravity" better. But what do I know ?)
I like it a lot.

Thanks, Marshall. I don't know what to call it either. I never announce song titles when we play, though, so it probably doesn't make any difference.

I was all set to recommend: Defying Gravity.
Then I thought there was familiar ring to it. So I surfed it. And low an behod it is the Big Tune from Wicked, where Aplhaba soars through the air singing about Defying Gravity.
It's a great play; and a very memorable song.
So, don't name your's Defying Gravity.
(Duh. What a waste of electrons.)

Maybe "Antigravity."
Though nobody can copyright a title.
