G'mornin' - s'posed to be dry today, so I'll try to do some more work in the garden and get the donkeys out of the paddock and on some taller grass for a couple hours. Other than that another fall day, have a good'un.

Morning
Rained last night, today partly sunny and 66.
Right now I have a least 6 vintage guitars in for major work and a 60s Gibson J-50 coming in today for a lot of work, the season has started with a bang this year.
Looks like Sunday it will be 80 degrees, this means the party goes will be anchored off Big Island for one last time before the Fall weather closes in. Overnight temps for Monday will be high 50s so a 2-3 mile early morning boat ride won't be too bad.

Mornin'.....
Another day to be glad I'm still here.
Making a meatloaf for tonight, and make sandwiches for the road on Sunday.
A little more serious guitar time today. Gotta get some callus and stamina back.

Early this morning there was a half moon, and what I'm sure was a planet, very bright, near it. Anyone have an idea of what that was?

Well the Gibson J-50 turned out to be a 1962 LG-3 Adjustable Bridge, the transition model between the old LG-3 and the replacement model, the B-25. In 62 Gibson dropped the LG line, except for the LG-0, and replaced the LG-1,-2,-3 with the B-25.

Well, Marty. Sounds like a challenge. Can you do it?

Well, Marty. Sounds like a challenge. Can you do it? Can do Doc. If I really get picky with the specs on this guitar I'll probably find it is a B-25 that Gibson marked LG-3 just so they could fill a order. The real clue here is that the guitar does not need a neck reset, and has never had a reset. Gibson set the neck angle differently on adjustable and non adjustable guitars. The adjustable necks were set back farther and typically do not need resets. So it is built like a B-25. As to what I'm going to do. The guitar needs frets, somebody filed them flat to the point of no return, they can't be crowned again. The bridge is cracked in half and the bridge plate also. So I'll refret it, make a new non adjustable bridge, and replace the maple bridge plate. The plate was also misaligned, not centered on the bridge area properly, this I'll correct. There are also two 3/8" holes in the top under the bridge where the adjustable studs are located, these will be plugged with spruce. So in the end I'm turning it back into a LG-3.

Sounds marvelous. Those little Gibbies of that era were so inconsistent. But they all had potential.
