If I may indulge in my very own Dad Brag:
My son. Seamus, who has a Phd from CUNY, and has recently been teaching at Queens College and Hunter College in NYC, has been offered and will accept a research and teaching position with Australia National University in Canberra. ANU is a member of "The Group of Eight," and the International Alliance of Research Universities that include: U. of Cambridge, U. of Oxford, Yale U., U. of Calif. Berkeley, Peking U., National U. of Singapore, U. of Yokyo, U. of Copenhagen and ETU Zurich. The research component of his assignment will be a multi university study of language acquisition, processing, evolution and documentation, which will align well with his dissertation into bi-lingual children. His concentration is in Educational Psychology with a particular focus on the use of statistics, hypothesis definition, execution and control for psychological study. The teaching component will be in the ANU Psychology department.
His assignment is for 3 years. He leaves for Australia in February. He is 30 years old.
Needless to say, I am inordinately proud of him and wish him great luck.

Very nice Kevin. I remember talking to you about your son at the first Gypsy Jam and your love was reflected in your words. Maybe because I am a sensitive to that stuff dad myself. Miss you.

... The research component of his assignment will be ... study of language acquisition, ..., which will align well with his dissertation into bi-lingual children. ... Congrats, and that sounds like what I've been bumping up against for 20-25 years. Let me know if he needs a couple more data points.

Synonyms for "inordinate:" excessive, undue, unreasonable, unjustifiable, unwarrantable, disproportionate, unwarranted, unnecessary, needless, uncalled for, gratuitous, exorbitant, extreme.
I would say your pride is entirely ordinate. Congratulations!

I would say your pride is entirely ordinate. Congratulations! Leave it to a journalist to straighten my ass out and administer some black and blues. The only part of that word I recall was excessive. But just in case you want to add to my Christmas wish list... I could use a goddamn new dictionary!! I'm living with a copy of Miriam-Webster dictionary from 1968! In fact this is the very copy I gave to my mother for Mother's Day in 1968 right after I got back from Vietnam. So. That's my sob story and I'm sticking to it!

Congrats! Sounds like a great honor and great challenge for your son.
I think you will need to make a journey to Australia to check up on the kid.
