The things he said there all seemed reasonable. Splendid.

I went to church services a few times. They had their moments. More interesting than sitting on my sofa watching Love Boat. Sometimes.
Edit - I have been to Mosques but not for religious services.
Anyhow. Good that Obama made a friendly gesture towards Muslim Americans.

I bet he was looking for his baptismal papers, to burn the proof of where he came from.
Oh, they don't do that in Islam. Hmm, well, let's start a rumour anyways. I'm sure someone will take it and run.

Probably to get ideas for the mosque he is building in the White House.

Not sure what constituency he was reaching out to then.

I just listened to a speech he gave in Washington yesterday. He mostly said "Mooslim" but a couple of times slipped back and said "Muslim". Which is it? I am confused.

The joke is, some folks will find this unacceptable. Sort of. The flip side of that coin is that some folks are convinced that the American people are a coiled spring being held back by the most slender of threads against the prospect of a rampage through the American Muslim community with levels of violence only exceeded by Sherman's march through Atlanta. Some folks, and count me among them, find such thinking an offensive bit of moral preening. A divisive slander grounded in .... what? I really don't know. Out of a population of 330-some million people, there will always be knuckleheads of all flavors and stripes. So what. When I see a President make a point of telling people not to discriminate against this group or that, I more or less take such messaging in precisely the same manner as if someone told me to not beat my wife.
