How have I not known about Steven Wilson until now? He plays with his own band (Steven Wilson) as well as two other bands which he fronts called "Blackfield" and "Porcupine Tree". He sounds like the best parts of Pink Floyd, Rush, and Dream Theater.
His latest band includes :
Adam Holzman. keyboards (Miles Davis, The Fents) Guthrie Govan. guitar Nick Beggs. Bass, Chapman Stick (Kajagogo) Marco Minnemann. Drums (from "The Aristocrats" which is Guthrie's band)
This song is from the album "Hand. Cannot. Erase." The stop action animation is simple, and yet stunningly beautiful.
There's one scene about 3 seconds long which explains the entire story and rips your heart to pieces all at once. I recommend watching it full screen.

Had a friend recommend that album to me.
I don't think I could live through that.

I liked the music in 5/4 time, around the 6:20 mark.

Can't bring myself to watch it. Listened to the first line. Enough.

I dunno. I'm pretty good at understanding all kinds of voices, I can listen to anyone from anywhere speaking English, even if it's a second language, and I can get what they are saying. I listened to this twice, and I can't understand what he is saying.

I listened to this twice, and I can't understand what he is saying. What do I do with all the children's clothes such tiny things that still smell of them And the footprints in the hallway onto my knees scrub them away And how to be of use make the tea and the soup All of their favorites throw them away And all their schoolbooks and the running shoes Washing them clean in dirty steel sink Routine keeps me in line Helps me pass the time Concentrate my mind Helps me to sleep And keep making beds and keep the cat fed Open the Windows let the air in And keep the house clean and keep the routine Paintings they made still stuck to the fridge Keep cleaning keep ironing Cooking their meals on the stainless steel hob Keep washing keep scrubbing Long until the dark comes to bruise the sky Deep in the debt to night Routine keeps me in line Helps me pass the time Helps me to sleep Routine keeps me in line Helps me pass the time Helps me to sleep The most beautiful morning forever Like the ones from far off, far off away With the hum of the bees in the jasmine sway Don't ever let go Try to let go Don't ever let go Try to let go Don't ever......

Here's the guitar solo from a different track on the same CD. Guthrie Govan does an amazing job of taking the tone of David Gilmore and Pink Floyd and adding Guthrie''s amazing technique.
I think you can really hear the Pink Floyd influence on this one.
And this is the entire song from which the solo was taken.
It starts of very Dream Theater influenced, then moves into something which reminds me of The Dixe Dregs, then Pink Floyd, then Dream Theater again. Prog Rock is still alive and well.

Thanks for putting that up, Patrivpck. Sometimes our internet buffers away on music and I couldn't figure this one out. Now I get it. What a terribly sad song.

Prog is most definitely alive and well, Greg. A lot of it is still ridiculously over the top junk. But there is some very fine music being made in the genre.
