The leaves are turning, and it is warm. It's not the most spectacular fall, trees are turning at different times instead of together, and while it is all pretty, it's not one of those amazing years.
That being said, fall cannot help being beautiful, especially on a sunny day because the humidity is gone and the sky is an absolute blue. The background of a red-tailed hawk as it circles a thousand feet in the air is one of the most brilliant things we are ever allowed to see.
But fall doesn't last, especially a warm fall. It is a fragile thing, and can be shattered in a day or even an afternoon as wind, clouds, cold and rain can move in at a moment, stripping the trees and coloring things in dull shades of brown and gray.
I took a step back today. The tree in our back yard stays green as long as it possibly can, always the last to turn. I held my guitar and leaned back in a chair today, in shorts and shirtsleeves, playing songs and looking into the green of that tree and the birds coming to the feeders hanging in it. It's going to cool down next week, but for today, it was summer.

Sounds like a fantastic day, VI. I too had a nice time at the natural center hiking some trails. I ended it by meeting with my butterfly class and tagging some monarchs on their way to Mexico. Since it was getting near dark, some of them found a tree to stay in until flying time in the morning. Nothing like spending quality time out in the woods.

Sounds like a good day for two outdoor enthusiasts. Glad you enjoyed it. I got out and walked a bit, took care of some errands, and mostly recovered from a very busy Saturday (I'll cover that in another thread).
Anyone familiar with a Poco song titled "Indian Summer" (great song)? Well that's what we seem to be having here over the last 5 days. Cool enough to turn on a bit of heat early in the morning and warm enough to turn up the air during the day. Keeps us on our toes as to how we should dress but it feels pretty good.
