I was on a job site yesterday in a tiny crossroads town in the northeast corner of Mecosta County, roughly in the middle of the famous Michigan mitten. The only available bathroom was in the Riverside Station, a combination gas station/convenience store/bait shop. The bathroom was filthy. Thought I oughta buy something anyways. The coffee and donuts looked equally stale, but a Reese's bar and Gatorade were pre-packaged and safe.
McDonald's is still recommended, but sometimes you don't have a choice.

I haven't been to Riverside Station, but I've stayed at the nearby River Run Motor Inn. I don't recommend it either.

I had to make a McD's yesterday. The bathrooms in the McD/gas station are only good not excellent.

Hermetically sealed is a good thing in a place like that, Tamarack, and it's good you skipped the coffee. It was probably made by the guy who handles the worms.
It's too bad there's not a McDonald's there. The restrooms are clean, and the coffee is good.
