Breathing spots.
I find I'm much more conscious of when and how to breathe. I find that some songs are hard for me to time my breathing correctly even though there are places to breathe. I think that everyone has a rhythm of breathing and when a song fits your rhythm you don't even think about it and when it doesn't you have to work at breathing in the right place.

You are correct.
A band I played in back in the day got a new trumpet player. So, one night he takes a solo and plays and plays and plays without taking a breath. I ask him about it during our break and he said he had studied circular breathing. He would have enough air in his mouth to sustain a note while inhaling though his nose. Weird

Weird I never was any good at it but I tried clarinet in school because "Guitar isn't a band instrument" according to the music teacher. Anyway, that breathing through your nose while exhaling into the horn was one of the tricks I never was any good at. I think it's a common practice of horn players besides Miles Davis who inflated his cheeks like balloons if you ever saw him play. It was pretty gross looking.

Tower of Power's Lenny Pickett was a great player who used circular breathing. Often used in a blatant way by folks to play a line over and over again until even those who are somewhat clueless to the mechanics of playing, finally go, WTF, and cheer madly. In normal context, pretty useful and wonderful.
I have really noticed my breathing while recording acoustic guitar. Nothing to do with singing. I realize that at certain times I hold my breath, and then do something explosive, which of course ruins my take. I really need to concentrate on continuing to breathe quietly.
