#! is backlit by the late afternoon sun. The yellow center of the bloom is more translucent than the petals, allowing more light to shine through. In processing I purposely bumped up the shadows and blacks to accentuate the lighter center. After years of doing this I have finally discovered how to set the aperture on my macro lens so I get enough depth of field to keep the entire bloom in focus and still blur the background. Some people are slow learners. As I was processing #6 the center part of the boom reminded me of the grand finale of a fireworks display as seen from an airplane. I decided to crop to accentuate that. The result was even better than I had hoped it would be. I didn't notice the very thin spider webs until later.
