This is how I'm starting to read the obituaries. There should be a song in there somewhere.

I scan for names we know and I look at the ages. Then I read my horoscope and the comics.

Shepard died at 73 of Lou Gehrig's?
That's a long time to live with that disease.

I'm working with some old guys on our 50 year high school reunion. We're tracking down people. So far about 10% of the class of 67 is no longer living.
Sobering.

Damn, Melva told me about that. I bumped into him - literally - in Stillwater once. I was unloading some things from the back of a car for a client presentation. The sidewalk was narrow, and as I stepped back from the car I bumped into somebody passing behind me. Turned around and said, "Excuse me," and it was Sam Shepard taking his kids to the ice cream shop a couple doors down. He said, "No problem," and moved on. We saw him another time at a 4th of July outdoor concert in a park in Wisconsin, carrying lawn chairs and looking for an empty spot, as hot and harried an anybody else that day. I don't think anybody knew who he was.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. And only three years younger than me. How about this one from Pete Seeger:

Sometimes I see myself in the mirror. So what .... I'm old but I'm a kid.

My sympathy, everyone. The aging process certainly takes it's toll. More aches and pains add up on what seems to be a daily basis. If I wake up without pain... I check my pulse.
