Prescott is the Tucson of N. AZ What do you mean, Doug? It's where all the left wingers in N AZ live. We don't have a cute name like TX does for Moscow on the Brazos.

I drive a truck. Put that in your research pipe and smoke it. The flaw with this research? Form follows function. Many people are not about making a statement through their use of transportation choice, they just use what they can or what they have. Especially after guys get past the “I have to have a 800 hp machine to sit it stop and go traffic on the way to work” phase. Mike Bingo. There are a lot of "studies" where they think they are measuring one thing, but they are really measuring something else. If I lived in Manhattan, I probably wouldn't own a car. Living where and how I do, I find my Silverado to be incredibly useful. Couldn't imagine trying to get along without it.

Pickups equals Republicans. Ok.
Low income urban equals Democrats. Same degree of demographic accuracy. So, ok.
Low income urban equals very few pickups. Don't need them, don't want them, can't afford them or park them.
Comfortable income suburban and rural locations, lot's of pickups. Want them, need them (for work, toys, hobbies), can afford them.
White males equals Republicans and Pickups.
Pick your study, pick your poll, pick whatever serves your point.

I wanted to replace my brand new 1989 Dodge Dakota with another truck a couple years ago. I'm can't remember who to give the credit to, but when I was complaining about truck prices at that time someone from the forum mentioned that the reason trucks are so expensive now is because they've become the new luxury SUV. These days they come with all the accoutrements of a vehicle intended for comfort, an added expense over the utility they were intended for. No such thing as a utility truck with a stick shift or windows you have to roll down by hand anymore.
I was not about to pay $20,000+ for a truck with 200,000 miles, that's ridiculous. So I settled on the Jeep, which has enough "truck" space in the back for me, and, which is nice, came with a radio and a cup holder.

I went to Carmax and found a half-dozen 4WD pickups for under $20,000 with between 25,000-50,000 miles on them in five minutes, all within easy driving distance, including a 2014 Ford 150 XLT with 35,000 miles for $19,998 and a 2014 Chevy Silvarado with 23,000 miles for $19,998. Both 4WD, in nice shape, and with about 30,000 miles of factory warranty remaining. I would think you would have twice the selection I do if you are willing to expand your search out to 120 miles or so. $20,000 can get you a nice low mileage pickup. If you go over the 100,000 mile mark they start dropping like a rock to ten k or below. www.carmax.com/car/14896562www.carmax.com/car/14954472

I am using this line in a song. “ I don’t drive a truck, baby But I got beer in the trunk of my Fiat.” That is all I have so far. Maybe you can fit this into your song: I passed a truck on the freeway. It was smashed in the back. Scraped all down the side bent it the front too I told my wife that it might be ramin' some but it wasn't dodge'n much.

Five digits anything is just silly for my purposes. All I need is something that moves and something that has a little space in the back. Good enough.

What's unusual about this is that it's been simplified to pickup vs sedan.
It's probably been 10 years or so, but I can remember something posted here about how well companies knew their customers thru their buying habits--so well even then that in order to prevent creeping out their customers, Target (I think it was Target) would mix in unrelated ads along with what they knew a given customer was gong to be looking for (they knew in advance if someone was going to get pregnant). Even then I'd heard of some people who refused to use the extended zip code to prevent being pigeonholed.
Fast forward ten years to now and google, amazon or facebook could probably paint have undoubtedly painted a far, far more complete picture of the US than any census.

Your One's iPhone also eaves drops to cue ads to add them to your ad queue now. I was skeptical until I did some reading on it. Now I disable the mic on my phone. Sheesh. What?

Anything any family member in three households looks at on Amazon pops up on everyone's computer or phone. Same goes for most Google searches. I have been considering a banjo purchase -- kinda funny that Dawn gets bombarded with banjos when she opens her laptop.

That could be a good thing... someday soon Dawn might come to you and say, "For some reason I've been thinking a lot about banjos lately."

Years ago my friend and I drove his Honda Accord out to Seattle. We drove through one town in Utah where every single vehicle was an American pickup with a rifle rack in the back window. We didn't stop. Good thing, or at some point the words "You ARE boys ain't ya?!" would have been said and then who knows.... Oh and apparently I stand corrected

On the other hand, my friend Larry had a black belt in judo and could kick as high as your face from a standing start. And he wore pointy cowboy boots. And ended a few fights by breaking arms. I never worried about getting in trouble when I was with Larry. But I did bail him out a jail a few times. Last I heard he moved to Arizona.

I don't have a truck. The Subaru has to do truck duty. That probably makes me a Democrat according to the survey. I wonder if they labeled SUVs as trucks. A lot of environmentalists around here, and there are a lot of them here, drive SUVs and vote Democrat, or at least have Democrat bumper stickers on their SUVs.

Life was simpler when the only SUV was the big V8 Jeep Wagoneer and pickup trucks were the cheapest vehicle from every maker.

I've never had that problem. Weird looking piece of obsolescencees , isn’t it? AARP advertises a phone for seniors that looks like that. It is called the Jitterbug. Is that a Jitterbug? Does your phone have really big numbers? Do you have the 5 Star Key that you press if you fall down and can’t get up?
