Well you live in Yapon (to use an older spelling).
This is 'Merica, goldurnit. Reel 'Mericans drive big trucks.
(I'm mystified by folks who choose their wheels to project an image...whether it be liberal Subaru, flower-child Beetle, outdoorsey Jeep, balding/hairy-chested Corvette, rap-blaring Charger or Camaro, or NRA gun-toting Yeah-'Merica F-250, complete with Yeti sticker & truck nuts.)
If not for my business I'd probably drive my daughter's Avalon...comfortable, quiet, nice to drive. But I need to tow my lift and trailer-mounted PW system. Thus a truck. I guess that makes me a Republican.
I just love a broad brush.

I used to drive a pickup truck. It was useful at the time. I also had a VW Beetle. Now I have an Chevrolet SUV. I am considering a Lexus or Cadillac for the next one. Image be damned. I drive what I like.

I own a Prius and have since 2009. One of my coworkers asked me when we bought it what kind of statement I was making with a Prius. My answer was succinct. "I like getting 45 plus miles to the gallon."

A broad brush but appears more or less accurate, based on my observations of the urban area in which I reside and and the outlying counties where I work.
I drive a non-rugged Toyota SUV as my personal vehicle. For field work I drive a company truck -- F-150 extended cab 4x4. I fit right in at construction and demolition sites.

They'd probably find it's an urban/rural thing that shows where the truck/sedan thing occurs.

Here in Montana I would say it runs 3 to 1 trucks to cars. If they figure out how to haul an ATV, a cord of wood, or an elk in a Prius let me know.

Years ago my friend and I drove his Honda Accord out to Seattle. We drove through one town in Utah where every single vehicle was an American pickup with a rifle rack in the back window. We didn't stop.

I drive a truck.
Put that in your research pipe and smoke it.
The flaw with this research?
Form follows function. Many people are not about making a statement through their use of transportation choice, they just use what they can or what they have. Especially after guys get past the “I have to have a 800 hp machine to sit it stop and go traffic on the way to work” phase.

Some of us choose the balding/hairy-chested Hyundai.

My $8,000 Jeep is well over 4 times as much as i’ve ever paid for a personal vehicle. Kim is a different story.

I drive a van. It will be so much easier for me to move down by the river and live in it some day.

The only thing that kills me about trucks is the incredible cost. I had motorcycles. I loved riding them, and I of course was making a statement about being young and cool. But I see young guys with the massive 4 wheel drive trucks with the diesel engines, and I see a down payment on a house in those puppies. A lot of them are tradespeople, but the tradespeople I used to know when I was younger had older beater pickups, because they got the crap beaten out of them by the work. 60 to 80k on a vehicle for a 22 year old seems crazy.
But, we do shit like that.

We didn't stop. A friend of mine retired and moved to Prescot. He's a gun guy. He drove his Honda Civic to the shooting range every week. He got a lot of stares. Finally he bought a used pickup off his brother and sold the Honda. He feels more accepted now. He also said Prescot is the whitest place he's ever been. Even the bus boys at the diner and the lawn service crews are all white.

I drive a SUV, Ford Escape, same as Dog's but more "tarted up", but the girls call it Papa's truck. I would prefer a pick up truck but they are not what I need for hauling 6 or more guitars at a time while also picking up and delivering grandkids here and there.

I am using this line in a song.
“ I don’t drive a truck, baby But I got beer in the trunk of my Fiat.”
That is all I have so far.
