The cold is getting mighty old! 🙄 I am craving some outdoor time!
Mom’s surgery went well. Hopefully the doctor got all the cancer cells. She had a long incision across her thigh. I have to go over today to help her clean and bandage the site. Ugh. 🤢. Hate doing that. But she needs help so I just grit my teeth and we will manage.
First up a trip downtown to the remodeler to review cabinet selections and layouts. No changes after today as the cabinet order will be sent in.
Stay warm, my friends!

Good morning, well it ain't snowing anyway.
Although I'm a ways from the nearest road I can usually see the traffic on it and I haven't seen any so I suspect it hasn't been plowed. Everything's closed so there's nowhere to go if I could get out, which I can't. It's 17F but windy and I haven't talked myself into trying to shovel. It's supposed to be near 50F Monday and raining so that may be my best bet. I can see that my pool cover got torn and one corner seems to be caved in. There's nothing I can do about that. The crows have been picking at that corner for some reason and must have started a tear which the wind got under. Hope there's no real damage.
It's Friday. Try to enjoy it.

Morning
4F/-15.5C Sunny, which means cold.
Going to visit Capitol Guitars today, they have a few things for me to work on. Then shop time, working on a complete refret on a Les Paul with a twisted neck. The finish is too dark to see the end grain on the headstock but if I could I would bet they got the flip match direction wrong and all the grain leans the same way.

Great pictures of snow, ice and flooding
Gonna be cold here today in NH, but at least we don't have any flooding, here;s a quote from a Boston Globe woman on the street interview, "One area resident, Catherine Edgerton, said the sea water poured in so fast that “looked like an oil slick. People said water was coming up through their bathtubs.”"

It's common here to see Gale warnings and Small Craft advisories posted on the weather sites but today, there's a "Low Water Warning" which I don't remember seeing before. Apparently, the winds are high enough that the low tide on the ocean for a distance of 20 nautical miles off shore this afternoon will be 2 feet below mean-low-water. Because of that, they advise boaters, if they're dumb enough to be out today, to go slow because they're likely to run aground. Guess all the sea water went to Boston to fill bathtubs and didn't come back.
Maybe this will save Manhattan from flooding.

I would think the high tide on the north side of the storm will be higher than normal. The wind is pushing the water around. That's a fascinating thing about currents. The whole El Nino phenomenon is thought to be because the prevailing easterly breezes at the equator push and pile up warm water to the west side of the Pacific. Then about every 7 years, gravity gets pissed and pushes the water back eastward, causing a surface temperature rise in the easterly waters near N & S America. Lasts about a year, then the wind takes over pushing the water back westward. Crazy stuff.

Wow.....the day is almost halfway history. But I'm here. Must have slept on my shoulder wrong last night, pretty darn painful today. Swelling and bruising persist. After 16 days, you'd think that would begin to subside. It will all be examined early next Monday, when I have the first post-op follow up. Doesn't hurt when I'm asleep, so hopefully I'll manage a nap.
Please do everything it takes to have a fine weekend. Barb and I will drive to KC on Sunday.

In one of those weird anomalies of weather, it is currently a sunny and 76 degree day in Newfolden. We are all bracing for a likely Maki Boys in tank tops sighting. It is just too damn early for this. Too damn early.

11th day of Christmas just about shot. All the decorations are off the tree except the lights and the angel at the top. Sat by the tree of n the dark tonight and had a Baily's. Probably do it again tomorrow.
