The heart seems to be fine, but the arteries/veins were very constricted. He survived the triple by-pass surgery and as of my last contact with Chris (Thursday evening) he was in recovery, expected to come through. I'm working on the 'no news is good news' in this instance. Their daughter Mikel Anne is with Chris, helping to keep her spirits up.
I am of the firm belief that Doug will be his old cantankerous self in no time, but I don't know how soon he'll be able get to a computer to post his own updates.

He’ll be pretty dang sore for a few weeks, but if the heart muscle is fine, the bypass will have him feeling better than he has in years. Best wishes and prayers. See you at IJ.

Wow I missed the fact he was having a triple. That’s a big deal. Having your chest cracked hurts!

I know a handful of people who have been through this. It's a long road to recovery, but sometimes it's the only choice. Praying that things go well for Doug and family. He is one of the people who makes the Soundhole what it is. Strange how an anarchist can bring a community together.

Glad to hear it's so far so good.
And cardiac surgery is much more advanced than even a decade ago. The recovery is still a b@☆ but he's a Marine, right?

Thanks, Dennis. We've been worried too. I have Doug's mobile no. but didn't think I should use it. I don't have a no. for Chris.

Wow I missed the fact he was having a triple. That’s a big deal. Having your chest cracked hurts!Interesting that you say that, Terry.....I've done that twice now and neither time did I take any pain meds. Nothing beyond some Tylenol for my achy, breaky back. Stiff after laying on it for 10 days while I had the balloon pump in. My two hernia repairs and two shoulder surgeries were significantly more painful. I remember when my dad had a quintuple bypass.....felt fabulous after healing. Doug.....do you have any shirts that go with a dark turquoise? If you have the same sternum protection vest I had, that's the only color the handles come in.

I wish for Doug a full and speedy recovery. I also hope Chris learns to bat cigarettes out of his mouth.

Wonder if he is immobilized in the bed with tight hospital socks up to his knees. That might be too much for him to bear. Hang in there, Marine.

Well, to be honest, Doug did say his heart was broken as he sang the song about his baby running off: But I didn't think he meant it literally. I know he'll pull through, you can't get rid of guys with his intestinal fortitude that easily!

I'm glad to hear that the news is the best to be expected. I've always suspected Doug is like the Energizer Bunny, He just keeps going, and going....
We all hope to hear from you soon, Doug.
