A recent discussion elsewhere brought this up. Blue cheese or ranch dip with your Buffalo hot wings? Got to be blue cheese for me.

Not that I need the stuff, but on the rare occasion blue cheese of course. Ranch makes no sense.

I have never had a hot wing. Why would you put salad dressing on a a hot wing? That's positively unamerican. As John would say, go to your room. Do not pause for any of the namby pamby snacks you normally consume.

Well, not hot wings, for starters.
I hate hate hate all things "buffalo sauce" flavored.
That said, at B-dubs I get other flavored boneless wings and I use ranch for dipping.

Oh LJ.....do you not realize that a salad dressing has the uncanny ability to miraculously transform themselves to a completely different form? No longer referred to as a salad dressing. They have mysteriously morphed into a.......... Dipping Sauce.

Indeed, boneless wings are a sacrilege.

Blue cheese on rare occasions.
During my sojourn in Missouri I worked with a native of Buffalo, NY. He sponsored a party for his coworkers from all over the US and Canada and Pakistan, and prepared a proper batch of Buffalo wings -- cooked in hot sauce (similar to Frank's) and served with blue cheese dressing with carrots and celery on the side.
According to his story, Buffalo wings were originated during the Depression by a woman who fed large numbers of homeless and hobos. Chicken wings, celery, and carrots were cheap.

Similar origins for New Orleans' Po-Boy. A place started serving them to striking streetcar workers back in the day.

Yep.....me too. And the sauce made with Frank's Hot Sauce and melted butter. So I see that you can buy Frank's by the gallon. Can anyone supply a recipe/proportions for Franks, butter, and wings?

I have never heard of it being mixed with butter before, I don’t think most retaurants do that. Deep fried wings, slather with as much hot sauce as you like, served with blue cheese dip on the side. With celery sticks, of course, for your veggies.

Please do not try to order your wings with ranch in Buffalo.
Please.

I never caught on to the celery part.....and now I have to leave that out due to sodium content being so darned high. Whodathunk celery, being so much water, would have that much sodium naturally.

I don't know that I have ever seen anybody down here in the deep south put BC dressing on wings. It is solid Ranch country.

Indeed, boneless wings are a sacrilege. But, the birds are a heckuva lot easier to capture, you gotta admit that!
