These liberal parodies probably work in reverse instead of forwarding their cause.

These liberal parodies probably work in reverse instead of forwarding their cause. It’s like the old adage of shining a light in dark places. The illumination only lasts as long as the light.

<resident> Doug was a native of Florida. I only wish we could read Doug’s comment here.

It doesn’t change the extremists, and it just pisses off moderate people for being stereotyped in with the worst.

In my experience, if you publicly lampoon someone they quickly change their behavior and opinions to avoid further embarrassment.
Oh, wait … I think that was in some parallel universe.

IMHO, once you get labeled as racist, there's no way to defend yourself.
Also, the town may be white, but the Hualapai Nation isn't. Last time I was there (the city and the nation), there seemed to be quite a few Native Americans in the area. The fact that there are few Blacks is a reflection of history.

It gets all the head-nodders nodding in agreement. So there's that.
The joys (and snarkiness) of painting with that wide brush.

Have you all seen any episodes of that Cohen show? It’s proof that morons walk among us. So far three of his "guests" have stepped down from their positions, or been asked to, after the shows have aired.
The gun one is worth watching just for Trent Lott alone, and many here know that I’m probably to the right of even the late great Doug Heard when it comes to 2A issues.
But stupid is stupid; no getting around that.
Read and weep, if you have the stomach for it:
This state rep had to step down, go figure:

In the end, in endeavoring to revealing the biases of those around him, Cohen reveals his own.

Shocking! A viewer could come away from a viewing of the Kingman meeting with the impression that there is some anti-Muslim prejudice in that community.

Another side to Kingman complete with some great harp. Think of all the young men those crates, built to a large degree by women, got home alive.

First, I don’t find him funny. Is he supposed to be? I wouldn’t watch him.
Having said that, I think it’s a good thing. According to Paul’s link, Kingman may have been presented unfairly if some of the people were indeed from outside the city. And it would have been easy enough to fix on the front end with a quick “We’re reporting from Kingman, AZ, although we didn’t screen people to make sure they’re all residents of the city.” That aside, the show inspired positive changes in the city, something they acknowledge was long overdue. So, good job, sucky satire show.
I watched the gun video. I started wondering if they were real people. I mean, nobody could be that moronic, right? And then I recognized Joe Wilson and Illinois’ own Joe Walsh. Okay, so yeah, they could be that moronic. Again, though, I think it’s a good thing. It can’t hurt to see what I hope is the outer limits of gun nuttery.
I don’t understand why some are offended by a show like this, unless you’re in favor of arming 4 year olds, and I’m pretty sure that’s not the case. So where’s the harm? Is the show trying to portray all gun rights advocates as being similar to these guys? I didn’t see that in the video. More likely, and not much more flattering, is if you identify with ALL gun rights advocates. I’m not saying that’s the case here, but I just can’t see any other reason to take offense to a show like this.
Don’t like it? Do like me and don’t watch it.

Cohen's a Brit. Why do we care what he thinks?
