Clean picking. Sad fiddle. And nobody can sing it like Townes.

"...and nobody can sing it like Townes."
Obviously, you weren't at Idiot Jam.

I have this Pancho & Lefty’s song somewhere with Dylan and Willie. Maybe I can find It.

EmmyLou's version does it for me.

EmmyLou's version does it for me. That's the version I first heard, and it's still my favorite as well. The song scans like an Elmore Leonard novel.

The Rear View Mirror CD is good. If you can find Rain on a Conga Drum, (a Townes live show in Berlin) I'd recommend that too.

That’s always been my favorite version, by far.
I’ve always wondered how many people think that song was written by Willie Nelson?

He's one of the few from back then who still hold up for me.

Townes was almost as good looking as Millring or Tandberg.

Townes was almost as good looking as Millring or Tandberg. I always read Millring as Mudfence.

Great version of Caroline and a pro recovery after forgetting the lyrics. Not sure the instrumental break or ending went as expected but it was seamless.

With all the demons he had to contend with, how he managed to write such an extensive body of songs is a wonder.

It is amazing, Chesapeake. A whole lot of demons.

There's a kind of morbid sadness to his songs that just doesn't resonate with me. Sadness is certainly OK. Plenty of sad songs I like. But I can't seem to feel any compassion for his characters.

And, of course, we've all heard Lonnie's story about how he learned this song from Townes.
