A fairly nasty wintry mix is supposedly moving in. We have no where to go, but I still hope they’re mistaken.

Raining here but it should hit 42 so snow seems unlikely. I bought 20 bottles of Chinese champagne to celebrate tonight. $1.33 per bottle. What could go wrong? Why does the label say “Do Not Open in House or Near People”?

good morning My Colorado friends have one of those little bulldogs. They visited recently. That is one funny dog, but it is a genetic collage. Nothing matches up. 72 and drippy here.

It'll be 37-51F here with showers. I'll run a few errands and then we'll have some old friends over for dinner. We'll chase them out at 8:30. Staying up late no longer seems like fun to me. Enjoy your day.

The nieces are off to Vancouver for the celebration. I'm going to brave the throngs at the megastores shopping. Didnt get to the donkey shed floor yesterday, scheduled for tomorrow.

Good morning.
30F/-1 Cloudy/overcast.
DaWife is making beer batter apple fritters* in her new deep fryer, somebody got her one for Christmas, wink wink nudge nudge. She will make a LOT of them as the oil temp is important and we expect the first few to be greasy until she gets the temperature correct. Then they'll come out light and fluffy and golden brown. The Oster deep fryer is quite nice and the whole thing, except the controls, is dishwasher safe. Many of the ones I looked at were not washable except by hand.
* Recipe to follow as I would like to include the oil temp.
Pine Island 77F.
79 Days til Spring.

If you have the same one I have, the answer is 375 degrees! There is a chart of temperatures on the front and everything they list Chicken, French Fries, etc is listed as only one temp 375!
As for us, some old friends from Chicago that now live in Des Moines will be here sometime today to play music, cards, and anything else we can think of until we get too tired to stay up (probably about 9:00pm). Will be making some snacks and then having a big pot of Spaghetti and Meatballs (home made of course) with Garlic Bread and a salad.
Panettone for dessert from a Chicago Italian Store with some ice cream.
Raining and cold (34F), maybe ice / snow later.

I don't know what temperature our deep fryer uses. We plug it in and it heats. Everything I've deep-fried in it has been fine.

Lots of precipitation here today but currently 57°F so it is all rain.
I wish I could blame the holidays for my weight, but I was fat in August.

A bit late..... but so what? It is insanely cold here, our first snow will stay for a while. Currently 21º, with windchill it is 7º. Fire in the fireplace, still some chili left. New bottles of wine and a bottle of bubbly for later. Two new solo restaurant gigs in the works. Blowing the dust from enough tunes to pull off two hours w/o repeating. And before long, the Goodall will have company.

You got a Timberline? I've heard good things about them. Enjoy! Don't have it quite yet, John.....but it's happening. I'll get past New Years and talk to Gregg Miner. My son Joshua is actually springing for it. I just have to figure a way to get the Timberline and my Holloway to Mike at Mass Street and have him move the K&K for me. And yes! I'm stoked!
